Ultimate List of Sites like FML (Part 1)
78Today while online I cam across a website that at first glance I thought I was staring at the infamous FMyLife website (otherwise known as FML), but it was off somehow. Then I looked into it some more, and I discovered not is there one “spin-off” FML website, but there’s actually several. Now I have more website to read instead of studying. FML
I know the FML website has recently gained a lot of popularity; a lot more people I know are certainly using the expression. Also FML has recently released a book by the same name. a pretty good indicator of its popularity. Below I have compiled a list of these websites, with a brief description of each one.

FMyLife (FML):
Basically the website that started it all.. If you don’t know what FML is, it’s the English version of a French website in which users submit short anecdotes about themselves telling “the little things that screw with your day”, hence the name of the website. Users can then vote whether they sympathize with the poster or think they deserved it. This website is not to be taken over seriously, rather in a fun way. Its recent popularity has had it expand into a book, and a new section of their website containing illustrated FMLs.
MyLifeIsAverage (MLIA)
Very similar in both its appearance and structure. Where posts begin with “Today…” and end with “MLIA”. This website focuses though on normality or average of everyday life. This site even contains an “Average word of the day” that can be seen near the top left of the page.
MyLifeIsG (MLIG)
This website is similar to FML in all aspects, even the name where a word is simply replaced with a letter. Where this website differs, is that it is the exact opposite of FML. It focuses on the good, sometimes inspirational, that happens in people’s lives.
FWhyMe (FWM)
This site while similar in its appearance deviates a little from the normal “formula”. Not all posts start the same but they all end the same, with the words “Confessed” or “FWM”. The general idea to the website and the type of postings is similar to FML, but adds a “confession” element in which users can post a confession about themselves.
I Fail At Pickups (IFAP)
http://www.ifailatpickups.com/
Here people post their tales of attempts at wooing another. Most posts start with “So…” and end with “IFAP”.
Beat My Secret
http://spillyourbrain.com/beatmysecret/
While lacking the basic formula for posts, this website.. As the name suggests, postings here are about people revealing something secret about them selves. Some posts though start with “RE#__”, signifying it is a response to comment “__” claiming to best their secrets. Very small so far with only 4 pages of posts.
MakesMeThink (MMT)
The slogan for this website is “Today’s thought-provoking life stories.” It is as it claims to be, where many of the stories make you stop and think about things for a second. The deepest of all the sites on the list, it is worth looking at, especially if your looking for something different that’s outside of the norm of these sites, or even if you’re a big fan of FML.
Dating Weird
Like FML, where people’s stories contain bad occurrence, though the focus is on a date story or that of a significant other.
My Lifes The Bomb
http://www.mylifesthebomb.com/
Another website similar to MyLifeIsG containing short anecdotes about why a person’s life is awesome.
Similar Websites
These websites while not similar in look or structure are similar in their concept, wether users submit short tales for other to read.
Texts Frm Last Night (TFLN)
http://www.textsfromlastnight.com/
This is the place where people post their sent or received texts telling the tale of the events that transpired the night before. The website is also known for contain posts that may be unsafe e for work due to the nature of the website, where many of the texts involve sex or alcohol. Possibly the 2nd most popular website on the list as supposedly, the creators have recently signed a book deal to publish their own book.
Im So Bad At Sex.
This website is a place where users can post relatively short stories (longer than any of the others on the list though) about bad sex experiences or why they suck at sex. All of the stories end with “I’m so bad at sex”. According to the website though, its not necessarily to put yourself up for ridicule on the internet but to accept that sex most of the time is not the way its usually portrayed to be.
I So Regret
Basically it’s a place for people to post something they regret doing in their lives, from the little to the big. Each submission starts with “I so regret” and can rang from a few words to a few lines. This website serves as a public yet anonymous confession of sorts.
Regrets From Last Night
http://regretsfromlastnight.com/Home.html
Similar to the previous site, but with a focus on things that occurred the night before. This website is also targeted at people in college or university, where postings start off with you location be it military branch, college or university.
Onto Part 2! Because of the amount of these websites I decided it was best to divide the list into two parts. To get to the second part go to http://www.hubpages.com/hub/Ultimate-List-of-Sites-like-FML-Part-2
