The story follows as these new characters join the team of X-Men in hopes to help others. The new X-Men team helps defeat the sentinels and the people hate them for being different. In issue 2 we learn more about Wolverine and how he was sent by Magneto to infiltrate and destroy the X-Men from the inside. At the end of the comic Wolverine is taken in by the X-Men and meets Professor X for the first time. In issue 3 Wolverine joins the X-Men in an attempt to rescue a girl. The X-men fight off a large group of rogue mutants and rescue the girl. However, at the climax of the issue Storm discovers that Beast is trapped under a burning building and looks as if he were dead. The comic ends with the ominous thought that maybe the X-Men are not indestructible.

Before we continue be sure to visit some of our other hubs including how to throw an xmen birthday party.

Issue 4 begins fast and with a lot of gunfire spewing onto the X-Men. Cyclops is doing his best to communicate with Storm about the uncertainty of whether Beast is alive or not. Cyclops is hit by a bullet and the locals continue to fire upon the X-men. An argument then breaks out on how Professor X was willing to sacrifice the 7 X-men to only save a spoiled little brat with money. While in the mist of combat a large train fly’s in the air crashing down on everything around it and Magneto fly’s in professing he is also a little surprised that Professor X would send them. Oddly enough Magneto lets the X-men leave without harm trusting that Wolverine will be able to kill Professor X is all the comfort he needs.

The X-men then arrive back at the School and take Beast straight into the medical offices. While there Jean Grey works on and speaks about a new procedure that has only been tested on animals that they could use on Beast. After talking a bit more about Beats Jean and Wolverine take a walk. Wolverine then asks Jean “how she feels about it”. Jean then talks about how she does not like the sentinel program and that maybe the President will withdraw the program now that his daughter has been saved. Wolverine quickly corrects Jean by asking no I meant how do you feel about me? Jean then responds that she actually does not like Wolverine all that much. The climax of this discussion is when Wolverine then asks “then why do you find me so attractive”? Jean then answers with the statement that will cause conflict of many years of comics “I wish I knew”. Wolverine then grabs Jean and dips her while kissing, while Cyclops watches from the school.

In the next scene we witness Professor X speaking to a representative of the White House that has informed him that the President will be stopping the sentinel program. The X-men are then invited to the White House to meet with the president himself. However, Cyclops enters the scene angry from witnessing Jean kissing Wolverine. He takes his anger out by arguing with Professor X about the merits of dealing with the President and that he must leave the team. All of the sudden there is a call from Beats in the infirmary inquiring as to why his hair has changed to a blue color. In the next scene we are taken to the savage land (where Magneto’s base it) and we see a scene in which Magneto is welcoming a new member of his rogue team. The scene then reveals the Cyclops has left the X-Men only to join Magneto in his quest of human destruction, issue 4 then ends with the betrayal of Cyclops to the X-men.
