Un-Loved (A Poem)

Just when I think,
That I am once more beginning to love you.
You break my heart again,
With your pessimistic attitude.
I work hard to make you happy,
Much harder than ever.
And yet you toss my love in the wind,
Like a weightless little feather.
You ignore my pleas.
For your affection.
But when its time for your needs,
You expect my full attention.
You use me up,
And then cast me aside.
In this rollercoaster of a life we have,
Sometimes I don’t want to ride.
You complain about everything,
With some sense of strange entitlement.
You need to see the world owes you nothing,
So stop acting like you have a right to it.
You would rather bring me down,
Rather than to build me up.
You often make me frown,
How can I ever really be in love?
I try so hard to love you,
I really really do.
But how can one love another,
When you really don’t love YOU?
You must despise yourself internally,
And you take it out on me.
How can you expect me to give you love or respect,
When it is not shown mutually?
I write this poem tonight,
I need to get it off my chest.
I mean no words of pain or regret,
I just really must confess.
My heart yearns to be wanted,
Needed, kissed and hugged.
And sadly my partner dismisses me,
And I feel so very un-loved.

Why is it we want what we don’t need and need what we don’t want? Do you know what I mean by that? Underlying your thoughts it seems to be where you are. Still it is a poem and it will mean many things to many people. It is the first of yours that I have read and I look forward to reading more. Chris

My suggestion..Hit the road and find real love. You don't try to love you just do and honestly some people aren't worth it. Great poem...

Breakfastpop- Thank you for the advice but sadly leaving isn't as easy as it sounds. As they say "Easier said, than done"....Due to health problems among other things that is just not an option for me at this time. Its not always bad. Writing helps me express my frustrations, thats all. Thanks for your concern.

This is one of you best, I think, JJ. Though I am sorry for the inspiration behind the writing of it. No one deserves a roller-coaster ride, the emotional kind, I mean. Sometimes we need a touch(yes it can be just emotional through a word or a glance) to make us feel alive.
You need someone to touch you.
Find someone who will.
This sounds like something that a lot of us can relate to. We can only hope to get ourselves out of relationships like this to make way for the good ones.

That was is a nice poem. Many people go through the same thing. With some people you can never give enough. Some people think that the world revolves and sets on them, but they are sadly mistaken. You are loved. If this is a true statement, I would like to say that I love you as a sister and God loves you too.
