Finding Unclaimed Property
Have you suspected that you're owed state unclaimed property, but online searches of your name have all turned up nothing? Don't give up!!! You might just be searching incorrectly, and overlooking other methods of searching!
Suppose you were able to utilize every method for searching for unclaimed cash in your state, but nothing turned up. This doesn't mean you aren't still owed money, it may just be in pre-escheat, so the state has no record of it yet. It's quite possible to do a search the next month and come-up with thousands!
What is pre-escheat? Pre-escheat is where the unclaimed money limbo where your funds exist before being tranferred over to the state. You see, state resources will only provide information on your missing money that has been turned over to them, but sometimes it takes a number of years before it is turned over.
So you see, it's very possible that you are still due a claim, but no one has shown you how to find it.
Secondly, but equally important to keep in mind, is the fact that there is NO "national unclaimed property database". Sure, some sites may claim to have one (or even to have "the best" or "biggest" one), but such a database simply doesn't exist.
A lack of a national database isn't a bad thing, though, because now that you know, you can stop wasting your time on those sites (who's databases are often filled with bogus information) and learn how to find your unclaimed property, without paying fees for every search or giving a big cut to some "claim finder".
Don't be discouraged by a few fruitless internet searches for your unclaimed money. Get educated, and then search like a pro! Watch this video and you can even find pre-escheat property or earn extra bucks to handle to rising costs of living by being a licensed unclaimed property finder!
