Uncommon Ideas and Ways To Quit Smoking That Can Work
79
I am proud to say that after 11 years of smoking cigarettes, multiple failures using stop smoking aids, including nicotine gum and nicotine patches, I am finally free of my smoking habit.
Yes it was a struggle those long days and nights without my cancer stick by my side. That loyal friend always there for the good times and the bad. Memories flood back into my mind of nights years ago when I was too drunk to even walk home, my cancer stick was there for me. When the bong was empty, my cancer stick was there. When working for businesses that only allow breaks for the smokers. My cancer stick was there. Now I say goodbye. Beyond that struggle to resist and the temptation for just one more I've found peace inside.
Reality tells me it's been 4 days and I should get over myself. I have a cold and I'm weak and my momma never raised a quitter. In my runny nose, watery eyes, sore throat state of mind, I have come up with a new set of tips to quit smoking. There's a slim chance they would ever work for me but thanks to mom I grew up learning the motto.. "Do as I say not as I do".
Sure Fire Ways to Stop Smoking Now
- Catch A Virus. From experience I can say this is a great way to jump start your success for quitting smoking. Catching a virus is probably the easiest most cost effective method to stop smoking now. When you can barely breathe, your throat is sore, and everything hurts, smoking is the last thing on your mind. If you are unsure where to get a virus such as cold or flu, visit your local daycare. Make friends with the toddlers. The greener the nose the better your chance of locking in freedom from your cigarettes.
- Dip It.Out of sight out of mind rings true for smokers. If we can't see our cancer forming, we can tell ourselves that possibly its not really there. Instead, take a hint from your friends in the south and switch to dip, aka chewing tobacco. Chewing tobacco is a great way to get visible cancer. If you can see the damage you may be more inclined to stop causing the damage.
- Double The Costs. In Washington state it can cause as much as $5.50 per pack of cigarettes. A carton of cigarettes can costs as much nice dinner with drinks for 2. It just never seems to be enough to get us to quit smoking. I'm no fan of paying taxes just for the sake of paying taxes so set your own price. Fork out $5.50 for that pack of smokes and take $4.50 cash back with you. First person you see hand it over to them. "I'm trying to quit smoking" need be your only response. Perhaps paying $10 per pack may be motivation enough.
- Create Embarrassment.Make a rule that every time you smoke you must _________. The more embarrassing the rule the better. Having to scream out "Leave Brittany Alone" or " I 've got a golden ticket" might help tame the urge to smoke in crowded places at that moment but making stickers and wearing one for each cigarette that day seems much more fun. They could say "I am a loser" or "I have no self restraint" or "I lack will power" or the ever popular "I voted for Bush".
Authors disclaimer : I don't have the answers and I'm no authority on how to quit smoking. I may eat my words just days from now and be buying another pack... Or I might not. Point is.. You really should'nt be in daycares hanging out with toddlers as a stop smoking method.. The patch really isn't that bad of a stop smoking aid if you use it right.

Dipping is disgusting, but I have noticed if I get really sick I can't smoke and lose the need sometimes too.
