Understand the Cost for Drug Rehab

Why is it hard to find drug treatment pricing?
It always seems difficult to get accurate pricing information from drug rehab centers. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that they'd much rather get you on the phone, and talk you into coming on in, which is fine, they are in the business of helping people. Also, they exist to make a profit, and they don't stay in business if clients don't walk through that door. In addition to the first two reasons, they don't want to scare you off with "sticker-shock". Lastly, the price tag of drug rehab is presented in many different formats. You need to know what is included in the price, what will be added to your bill as a fee-for-service, and what your insurance will cover.
All of this makes it hard to compare prices by just asking; "How much does it cost?" Especially for people just trying to make the right choice, and during a time in their life when they may not be up to coping with the extra stress of a major financial decision. The best value of your treatment dollar can only be meaningful only in the context of quality and performance. Some people may be more committed to succeeding, after they had to pay a little out of pocket themselves.
Preferably, you'd have some form of insurance coverage, and if so your insurance provider will cover a substantial portion of the treatment costs. I would check with my insurance company first to find out what you're entitled to. Then ask them if they can provide you with a list of rehab centers already in their system, so you can go from there while trying to narrow down your choices. Better yet, find out if they will handle the payments to them directly.
Some facilities offer clients the option of financing their stay on credit, if you're unable to cover the cost upfront. Also, lower income participants may be eligible for a reduced total cost and a repayment schedule. You should always inquire about these types of options.

3 Catagories of Drug Treatment Centers
The High-End Private Drug Rehabs cost around $20,000 and up per month.
These drug and alcohol rehabs are considered the best in the nation, and should offer an outstanding level of care. You should expect excellent therapies, including a very high level of individual counseling from trained therapists and psychologists. You would also expect to enjoy a beautiful and tranquil setting, with private and even luxurious accommodations. Meal programs would normally be directed by a nutritionist. Recreational programs such as yoga, meditation, massage, and excellent sports and gym facilities. All rehab is hard work, and never a vacation, even if at first glance they resemble a resort or 5 star hotel. These rehabs are expensive, but are also generally the best.
Standard Private Rehabs will cost between $10,000 and $20,000 per month.
Private rehabs in this price range make up the bulk of rehab centers that offer services in the U.S. today. These centers basically offer a standard of therapy that is very close, or equal, to the quality of treatment offered at the high-end rehabs, not counting the rare exception of a few sub-par facilities. The important individual therapy sessions will be held less frequency and with intensity than at a more expensive rehab. The facility and accommodations will be less impressive, and you may not have room to yourself.
Non-profit and Public Rehabs can cost less than $10,000 per month, or maybe free.
The non-profit, or publicly run facilities are set up for people with the means to pay for a private rehab center. There are some very good public and non-profit facilities, but in general they will suffer from funding constraints. Individual counseling sessions will be the least frequent at this level, and the stays may be shortened. Many times there will be a waiting list for admission. The facilities and accommodations tend to be institutional, and having your own room is rare. These rehab centers operate in the best way possible, considering their budget constraints. The lack of beds and professionals can't give clients the care they may deserve, there are simply too many people in need of low cost treatment than can be handled by these types of centers.
Price isn't the whole story
An effective drug rehab program has less to do with the price and more to do with the individual receiving treatment. Someone could go into the most expensive rehab program available and in less than a week, be right back on the street engaging in the same activities as they where before they entered. Price doesn't tell the whole story, and any treatment is better than none at all. You should be prepared to make a substantial investment in your sobriety on a personal level, as well. You should look into the best drug rehab you can reasonably afford. Living a sober life will pay off much more than the financial aspects of the situation anyway.
Since any treatment is better than none, you should choose the best option within your budget and get help as soon as possible. Don't wait another day before making a commitment to change and to enjoying the benefits of sobriety!
