Understanding Blood Covenant:

Understanding Blood Covenant:

By Rev. Kevin Olson

Blood covenant is a bond n blood with life and death consequences.

God has set up blood covenant and it the fiercest of all kinds of loyalty.

Men need to understand this bond of relationship for it changes destiny and gives pledge of oneself to another and also visa versa.

The dealing of Church, Family, and State are all blood covenantal relationships.

The Church deals with the blood of Jesus by his death for our salvation.

Family deals with the blood of children being born and of her the wife being a virgin where blood is shed to consummate the marriage.

In dealing with state wars happen and after the wars have taken place a series of documents are settled upon and nations are set up but blood is always shed to bring this about.

Covenant of State

Covenant of Family

Covenant of Church

The work of blood covenant is a force in the earth and is given inspiration of God because it costs and shows God wants commitment so that we will respect what is important and real. Blood is thicker or more powerful then milk is a saying in and among people who know about blood covenant. All that means is that even among families Blood covenant is more powerful and more binding then the binding of families. God honors blood covenant even among enemies and to break it is o release wrath upon you.

In Cultures we find tribes made blood covenants to survive. Actually blood covenant is found all over the world because men need to help one another. Some may need warriors or cooks or farmers or smiths or whatever trade so blood covenants are made.

This is more then just goods and services but to the heart exchange of blood and an animal or animals is sliced in half and the covenanters walk a figure eight between the pieces showing It is an unbreakable set up relationship. Now the figure eight in science means eternity but in the symbolic walk of the covenant means the same thing.

We find David and Jonathan made a covenant of he Lord and It included their children and that is why after Jonathan’s death David took care of Mephibosheth at his own table which was part of his covenant commitment.

1Sa 18:3-4 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.

1Sa 20:17 And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

Jonathan was heir to be king but God made David king instead but Jonathan knew this and made him a covenant for his children’s sake.

1Sa 20:7-9 (David speaks) If he say thus, It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him. Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father? And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil was determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?

Blood Covenant is loyal as Jonathan was to David because of the covenant and this put David at the mercy of Jonathan before his father Saul who was king and was out to kill David but they were to fully care for one another.

1Sa 20:23 And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between thee and me for ever.

He swore and God witnessed and it was all for one and one for all in the Blood Covenant unless stipulated.

1Sa 20:42 And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.

2Sa 4:4 And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

2Sa 9:1-13 And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake? And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he. And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet. And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar. Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar. Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant! And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually. And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am? Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master's son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house. Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons. And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth. So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; and was lame on both his feet.

The growth of David from a Sheppard boy to a king was a process but he was anointed to replace King Saul because David was a man after God’s heart while Saul just wanted to be glorified as a king without a king’s character. David knew about the importance of keeping one’s own word and what God means by the term Blood Covenant. David took Jonathan’s son and restored all the land of his grand Father Saul even though the young boy was crippled.

The boy not having done well nor bad received it because of grace and a previous covenant already established.

Notice it was the covenant called the kindness of God and Why Because this is what God and Jesus did for us.

Simply put Blood Covenant means:

1 one’s resources given

2 full loyalty and protection to the covenanters

3 commitments to give and receive

4 submissions for God’s purposes

5 being and staying in unbreakable fellowship

6 killing an animal in half

7 walking between the pieces promising help (also invoking curses if broken) even for one’s children

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Good hub on blood covenants.

Heb. 9:22 states: And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Baptism: Believe that Christ's precious blood cleanses our sins through baptism (1 Pe 1:18,19; Rom 3:25. He 9:13,14,22; Jn 19:34, 1 Jn 5:6-8; Zec 13:1).

It is very important during baptism for a baptist to invoke the name of Jesus Christ before he baptizes the convert for the Name of Jesus Christ cleanses the repentant from sin.
