Understanding VA Mortgage Home Loans
62Can I qualify for a VA Mortgage?
When it comes to purchasing a home there can be a lot of confusing
facts and figures thrown around. The more you know the better off you
will be. VA Home Loans
are generally the best choice for veterans. This type of loan is made
by private lenders for veterans who want to buy a traditional home, a
manufactured home, or a condominium. There are also special loans for
those veterans who are in the market for a refinance. These types of
loans also do not require a down payment although some closing costs
and funding fees may need to be paid upfront.
The VA is also there for veterans if that become temporarily unable to
work. They encourage the mortgage holders to allow a forbearance in
order to allow the borrower to get back on his or her feet. Also, there
are not any prepayment fees or penalties, which are great for someone
who would want to pay off their mortgage early. With all of the various
benefits that come along with obtaining VA Government Loans, there is no reason to look anywhere else. And with being given the lowest historical rates on interest, the VA Home Loans are the way to go.
Who Qualifies?
When someone begins the process of trying to obtain one of the various VA Home Loans
out there, there is going to be some paperwork that will need to be
dealt with. The VA Form 26-1880 will be the form for the Certificate of
Eligibility. Only veterans, guard or reserve, active duty, and the
spouses of military personnel can qualify for the Certificate of
Eligibility. This certificate does not mean that you are automatically
approved for VA Government Loans. It simply means that you have the approval needed to move on in the application process.
There are many strict guidelines and requirements for who is and who is not eligible for the VA Home Loans.
Congress establishes these guidelines and they are unchangeable. The
best credit in the world will not change the guidelines. If you are not
eligible then you are not eligible. Those who served in certain wars
and during certain peace times are usually eligible. Spouses of a
deceased military member may qualify if the military man or women died
while serving or from an injury that took place because of being in the
service. Generally, the spouse cannot be remarried in order to qualify
for these benefits.
The process is one that is not always the quickest but the benefits are
sure worth the wait. While there may be a little extra paperwork
involved in obtaining one of the VA Government Loans
it is important to see that a lot of money can be saved with these
loans. The wonderful deals that can be made for a VA loan is not seen
anywhere else which makes them very valuable. So get started on the
forms and applications and before you know it you will have a great
loan to help you achieve your dreams.
