Unemployed - Unemployment

You hear of everyone losing their jobs and being unemployed but then it happens to you. Even though there have been rumours for months about the place shutting down, when you do hear the news, it hits you like a ton of bricks and then you hear that you will still have roughly 5 months of employment left and I guess I am supposed to feel lucky about that.

The first thing I thought of when I heard this news was I'd like to just get in my car and drive away and not look back. Problem is though, I have made so many friends over the last four years working for this company, friends that I don't want to lose. What will happen to all the friends I have made? Will I ever see them again? Who knows?

Boy, even though I was expecting this to happen, it sure put me down. I can't believe how depressed I am over this. I am almost to the point where I don't even have any words to describe what I am feeling right now. This news couldn't have come at a worse time for me.

I hate the prospect of looking for another job and with my health the way it is I don't know if I'm going to be able to work at doing something else. It is a pretty scary time for me because of so many issues and my head is just floating right now. That car ride seems like a real good idea to me right now.

Welcome to the club! I received my notice back in May. I wrote a hub about it as well to let off a little steam. The only advice I can give you is to stay positive and really brainstorm as to how else you can use your skills.

Ms._Info thank you for comment and thank you for your advice. It sure is a hard dose of reality and really is difficult to remain positive because right now I just want to bury myself and forget about the entire world.

It'll get better. Just remember that millions of people are going through the same thing. I don't normally watch Oprah, but I had a Dr's. appointment and it was playing. Coincidentally on today's episode of Oprah, they featured people/couples who recently lost their jobs or businesses. the guests spoke about what they went through, the emotions involved, etc.... It was a great program and worth a look.

Thank you again Ms_Info. Too bad I didn't see that episode. I will have to watch out for it though. I'm a survivor so I will get through this one way or another.
