Dental plan or insurance
Dental plan or insurance

One of the best ways to provide dental care for

your family is with dental plans.

OK, what are dental plans? How do they work?

What makes them different from insurance company's?

All very good questions. First lets start with

insurance company's.

First Insurance company's typically do not cover any

cosmetics or orthodontics.

There is a deductible for each procedure.

Insurance is not easily affordable unless you are

employed and receive a plan from them. The employer

usually pays for most of the cost.

There may be other restrictions involved such as

pre existing condition. There are yearly limits on

how much the insurance company will pay. After that

it all comes out of your pocket. Also your dentist

will have to fill out forms and submit to the

insurance company to receive payment. This adds

time and cost to your care.

With a dental plan anyone can purchase a plan for

the individual or a family. The family plans offer

the best value.

I found myself unemployed once and needed care for

my family. I purchased a dental plan and saved many

hundreds that year.

I thought it was very nice that I could take my kid

to the dentist 24 hours after I filled out a simple

online form. I found a dentist in my area that accepted

my discount card.

I got 60% off of the procedure. You need to be aware

that some plans will differ on the discount so shop

around.

The doctor was happy because he was paid when services

were rendered and there were no forms to send out for

payment.

Another benefit from dental plans over insurance is

that they pay for orthodontics. Most insurance

company's do not.

In conclusion, if you find yourself unemployed or you

are employed by a company that does not offer dental

insurance then the dental plan may be an attractive

alternative for you and your family.

Wrong move by Metrolink. As one passenger said, "If they raise fares, I'll quit riding." That is what a lot of regular riders will do - quit riding. Raising fares will reduce ridership and revenue. If fares are lowered ridership will increase. It is that simple.
