“But within me the unicorn still remains, a formless shadow in the spaces of my mind”—Josephine Bradley, In Pursuit of the Unicorn

What stately beauty my eyes glimpse

Drive-by splendor of glimmering dream

flashed onto the retina of imagination

Here and gone, caught forever in a mind

enthralled by grace. Reveal the heart

hard held, frigid, petrified bewitched with

ephemeral illusions of truth. The instance of

desire diffuses, softens the bulwark of emotions

Softened core remembers, allowing second glance

A euphoric dissolution of life’s hand wrought chains

concedes exhilaration. Enchanted gaze, revelation

aware again, living, breathing, loving. Hard held fist

blossoms revealing passion, warmth, joy

Agony, fury, misery spirit away, butterflies in a tornado

Alluring glimpse, shimmering rapture of days long gone

Caught by headlights, flickering on consciousness

Myth or fiction, truth and beauty embodied

Espied with heart’s pureness, glimpsed through love

Living now where chains once held hard

Melting, blooming, beginning , arising, discovering

lost self anew. Freedom found, shackled no longer

wild tenderness overflowing, fierce goodness,

unconquerable truth. Play with me, befriend my soul

Guide my steps past old truth into new.

Glimpsed in a moment, engraved a lifetime

Renewed spirit embraces reborn soul

Mysterious legend glanced but a second

Instills corporeal, guileless truth to mortals

Released from servitude to past afflictions

Mythical bringer of wisdom, truth and hope

Entices me to lay down the yoke of hurt

Escorting, mentoring, inspiring me to love

Wow! That last photo with the unicorn, woman, swans, butterflies, flowers, stars and space so aptly matches your poem. Where did you ever find that image? Beautiful!

And on a funny...if not slightly crude note, here's one man's version of unicorn fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Psq2NFgWsZo ;) Not safe for werk, though.
