Ways to get traffic to your site, by letting others know about your website can be a challenge sometimes. We all know about the many ways being used right now, like posting in forums, link sharing, using affiliates, article marketing, banners, placing ads on authority sites, etc. Here are a few ones that you may have not thought of before, but people are using these ways:
- Join interest groups such as places like www.meetup.com provide a way to meet others who like the same things that you do, boating, skiing, theatre, book clubs, antique collecting, pet breeding, hiking you name it and you will find a group who likes to do it.
- Put your web address right on your car, a good place would be right in the back near the bumper so all those people who like to tailgate can now go and check out your website, hopefully not while they are driving behind you.
- Most public transportation stations, metro link, trains, buses, taxi's all have a place where people congregate while waiting for their ride. Look for a place for advertising usually there is big poster ads on the bus stop. Give them a call and find out how much their rates are. You will get plenty of impressions from the drivers passing by and the ones waiting around.
- Give a way a free newsletter with parenting tips in them along with a mention of your website to your favorite little league, all those baseball, football and soccer moms and dads will love you for it.

You can probably come up with a lot more but basically look around and be aware of your surroundings: Shopping malls, bowling alleys, counseling centers, union halls, beauty shops, libraries, college campuses, clubs, laundromats, community centers, convenience stores, grocery stores, bulletin boards, churches, job placement centers.
That should keep you busy!

Nice hub all good ideas, but you just can't beat search engine marketing for sustained traffic.
Thanks, I am glad you enjoy my articles!
RA: Have you considered publishing a book with all your business tips? There would be a market for it, as no one get tired of hearing about tips to earn income. Your suggestion to put a website in the back of a car is great!
Hi Research Analyst, thanks for keeping it pretty simple, but just how effective is it to not target your message?
Your right about that highwaystar from what I have been reading lately, the best traffic is target specific.
Hi R.A.
Another great hub as expected with great content. I came across a a fantastic video which should give everyone tons of ideas.
Thanks, dataminer for sharing.
I know that the received wisdom is that it is best to target your message. We (both Patricias) have a website (details in our profile) and when I look at the sources for new viewers usually find a significant number type the name of our site (or something very similar) into a search engine. My interpretation of this is that they have remembered the name of the site from seeing it somewhere else. My conclusion is that you can increase your traffic by seeminly random marketing.
Very interesting concepts. It is really very helpful considering that I am not very familiar with this things.
