New Ideas for House warming

At some point in all of our lives, we usually attend a house warming party for a friend or relative. It's quite easy to bring a bottle of wine...and quite forgettable by the new home owner. So, this hub is about giving you a few ideas...that will last.

Something that will live for awhile and give some color to a not so cozy house yet...a plant or a tree! If you can put it in a great pot--even better. And if the yard is in need of some TLC, a perennial outdoor plant. This gift will also be a daily reminder of you, and your generosity!

If you have artistic talent--something framed that you made. Or, if both parties have kids, something framed that your child made, for their child's bedroom.

That perfect coffee table book--could have a theme like residential architecture, or perhaps one of the home owners favorite hobbies/interests.

And speaking of books, another good house warming option is a book based on the new house 'needs.' For example, if it is in need of minor repairs, perhaps a do-it yourself home repair book for the owner. Or, if the house needs just an interior face-lift, a book with a decorating theme. You get the idea.

If the new home owner just moved in, and you have the time, a dinner theme in a basket is sure to be a hit too. Could be one of your favorite dishes that can be frozen, or a hearty soup with bread and a dessert. Or for a breakfast theme, a quiche (best if it can be frozen for their convenience), and some muffins. Whatever the theme, if it's presented in a basket with a bow, well it looks fabulous, and you will be as classy as Bree Vandecamp from Desperate Housewives ;-)

Have Fun!
