On August 11, 1960, an 85-pound instrumented capsule, ejected from the Discoverer XIII satellite, was recovered off the coast of Hawaii after making only 16 orbits. It was the first man-made object recovered from space.

There were 45 states in the United States at the turn of the century. Oklahoma became the 46th state in 1907, New Mexico and Arizona in 1912, and Alaska and Hawaii in 1959.

Box-office champ Toy Story (1995) is said to be filled with subtle inside jokes. One is in the name of the evil boy who lives next door to Andy and the toys. When Arnold Schwarzenegger was crowned Mr. Universe in 1967 at the age of twenty, he became the youngest man ever to win the title. He also collected the titles of Mr. Europe and Best-Built Man of Europe, and also won the International Powerlifting Championship. In 1968, he came defended the Mr. Universe title he'd won the previous year, and placed second - one of the few setbacks of his entire bodybuilding career. Thereafter, his triumphs in the sport were so consistent (he won four more Mr. Universe titles and six consecutive Mr. Olympia titles) that Schwarzenegger retired after 7 years because he felt he "wasn't giving others a chance to win."
