Unlocking Your Sixth Sense

I am finding studies of intuition, or the sixth sense I am told we all have, to be very fascinating.

Studies have shown that as children we have a natural intuition that we get programmed out of using naturally, mostly by the time we're around twelve years old.

I find that news to be sad really.

None of us would want to have our sixth sense popping up with premonitions every day of our lives, however, having a sharp intuitive mind is something that can be of great value.

It is also shown in studies that very sharp businesspeople all report to base the majority of their business decisions on intuition.

So how can we bring our native intuition back 'out of storage', from whatever recesses of the mind it retreated to when so much other input from others began to repress this normal intuition we were supposed to be able to use whenever needed?

Dr. Laurie Nadel has studied the workings of the sixth sense intensively for years now and tells in this interview of her findings, and the findings of others, along with relating the stories of many people, herself included, who have had personal experiences involving their own sixth sense abilities.

I have come to the conclusion that unschooling is probably the smartest thing any of us can engage ourselves in, before moving on to explore many avenues of learning that are available to us to re-program our minds with positive new input, chosen from all new sources of education, and to also re-tune portions of the brain that were supressed through lack of use for so many years.

We can listen to, or read the works of, many great minds, give consideration to all views and information and choose then what we feel is of most value to keep as new knowledge, while developing new habits, becoming more aware of all around us, and at the same time actually creating a new exciting lifestyle.

It's been a fun and refreshing experience for me, I know, to seek out new knowledge and new teachers and I've been able to add a new richness and depth to my life, overall, that was not present before.

"Dr. Laurie Nadel has been conducting research into psychic phenomena since the mid-1970s when she began to have direct experience of the paranormal.

She is the author of Dr. Laurie Nadel's Sixth Sense: Unlocking Your Ultimate Mind Power, with Judy Haims & Robert Stempson. The book contains 110 interviews with remote viewers, consciousness researchers, and neuroscientists, including former astronaut Edgar Mitchell, the late President of the Institute of Noetic Sciences Willis Harman, Russell Targ, Ernest Rossi, Jonas Salk, and the late Roger Sperry who won the Nobel Prize in 1983 for discovering the cognitive functions of the left and right neocortex.

Laurie Nadel has doctorates in cognitive psychology and clinical hypnotherapy. Her ongoing psi research has led her to study viewing the human aura with Barbara Brennan and the late Barbara Bowers, an engineer who could see both infrared and ultraviolet spectrums. She has also studied psychonavigation and divination with shamans in South America.

Dr. Nadel discussed her quest to quantify and enhance intuition and consciousness, as well as to understand other planes of existence. She reported that shamans in South America practice an ancient form of remote viewing called 'psychonavigation' which combines mental focus with an altered state of consciousness.

There is some evidence that traumatic events can open a person up to PSI abilities, she commented. As a journalist in the 1970's, she covered a difficult assignment in Chile, and then moved to New York City. She described bizarre encounters in her apartment that included hearing strange voices and seeing a red eye materialize on a wall. A spokesperson for the American Society for Psychical Research suggested to her that a psychic gateway was opening up, allowing for an expansion of intuitive abilities. A survey of successful CEOs show that 62% of them trust and act upon their intuitions, she noted.

Nadel said that after 9-11, orbs were observed visibly floating in the area of the World Trade Center and photographed in the subway stations near there. She believes they could represent "non-physical energetic presences," possibly of the attack victims before they moved on to the next realm. She has also studied Instrumental Transcommunication (ITC), interviewing Ernst Senkowski about his experiments in capturing the voices of non-physical entities."
