Use the power of eBay to drive traffic to your other sites! Legitimately.
63Follow these simple instructions and eBay sends traffic to your site.
Let's face it, no matter who you are or what you sell on eBay, you get a LOT more lookers than customers. You may have 5 bids on an item, but 200 page views.
If only you could get some those people to visit your non-eBay site though your eBay listing, essentially, using eBay to drive traffic to your othe web sites.
But that's crazy, eBay doesn't allow you to set up links to take you offsite does it?! It's strictly banned, right?
No, not really. You see what eBay is concerned with, as you should be also, is taking a potential customer away from your listing page and sending them off of eBay.
BUT, there is a way to get that customer or looker to your non-eBay web site, here's how.
First you have to set up an 'about me' page on eBay. On this you can put a link to any site as long as it's not against eBay policy. IE: Sites that contain porn or hate speech etc.
The best kinds of links of course are those which are directly related to what you sell on eBay. Or as close to being directly related as possible. So let's say you sell antique books and do free online appraisals like I do, you just place a link to your free online anitques appraisal site and voila! eBay allows and in fact encourages it.
But wait, your not done yet! Now you have to make sure people visit your about me page.
Now go to whatever you use for a tempate for your eBay listings and make sure to place a link there to your eBay page. To increase the chances of getting them to visit your about me page, include text in the link that will entice them. I use the following. "Click here to see my free online antiques appraisal site."
Again, make sure this link sends them to the 'about me' page where they can find the link to the site, NOT the site itself.
I like to place this link at the bottom of my listing template because I feel at that time the viewer is either going to buy, or move on. If they're going to move on, why not have them move on to your non-eBay web site.
By the way, as far as I know, you can put as many links as you like, I have 3 that I use.
They are:
One to my podcast, one to my homepage and one to a free eBay buyers guide that I distribute.
