Still using a mouse, keyboard, joystick or motion sensor to control the action in a video game? It may be time to try brain power instead.

A new headset system picks up electrical activity from the brain, as well as from facial muscles and other spots, and translates it into on-screen commands. This lets players vanquish villains not with a click, but with a thought. Put on the headset, made by Emotiv Systems in San Francisco, and when a giant boulder blocks the path in a game you are playing, you can levitate it - not by something as crude as a keystroke, but just by concentrating on raising it, said Tan Le, Emotiv's president. The headset captures electrical signals when you concentrate; then the computer processes these signals and pairs a screen action with them, like lifting a stone or repairing a falling bridge.

When I heard about this I was amazed to see that technology has already become in such a high level that a simple game can be controlled by our brain, you don't have to be focused on pushing buttons or clicking with the mouse, just think. The product will come with some training exercises in a CD or DVD, because according to the beta testers it's a bit difficult to make the exact moves we want. As for the release date, I couldn't find an exact date but the company intends to deliver the first copies in the Christmas of 2008, in just 6 months time.

I've searched the web to find the prices that this company will do for this kind of gadget, according to some fonts the will go around $300 US dollars. In my opinion it's a good price for such a product.

Would you buy such a product? Or you still prefer to use your mouse to shoot the enemies on Halo?
