Use Article Marketing to Bring Traffic to Your Hubpages
69
A lot of affiliate marketers use article marketing as a free and easy way to bring traffic to their offers, but even if you don't participate in affiliate marketing, there's no reason you can't use the same methods to bring traffic to your Hubpages. Additionally, since most of the major article directories have great PR and Alexa rankings, this should also help increase your presence in the Google search results, especially if you target your keywords effectively.
Increased traffic at your hubpage will bring with it better hubpage rankings and possibly some more adsense and affiliate earnings too, so take advantage of the opportunity to promote your hubpages with article marketing.
Want even more traffic?
I've uploaded a copy of 77 Ways to Get Traffic by Allan Gardyne. It contains 69 pages of traffic hints & tips and is free to share, but cannot be sold or changed, etc. It is a really excellent guide to traffic generation.

Also, I highly recommend Josh Spaulding's Article Marketing Domination. It cuts through a lot of the fluff about article writing and marketing and lets you laser target your approach, so you get more done in less time. It's all part of "work smart, not hard".
How do I do article marketing?
Article marketing is pretty easy, especially if you already spend a lot of time writing for your Hubpages and the ideas are flowing. The best thing to do is decide which of your Hubpages are worthy of writing a separate and shorter article about and then sit down and write between 300-400 words. I find this works well if I have several hubpages grouped together, then I have a lot of information to work with and coming up with another 400 words or so to say about it is pretty easy.
Once you come up with your article, then you need to put together your "author's resource box" or profile. It is in that resource box that you can link back to one of your hubpages. If you have a group of hubpages on the same topic, then use the gateway page for that topic for your link. For example, you may have seen the various hubs I've created for each of the tv networks and what shows they are streaming online. Once I had all of those pages created, I then created a page to act as a gateway to the rest of the group, Watch TV Shows Online For Free. So in my article marketing, I'm directing traffic to that page and then hopefully some of those visitors will filter themselves off to my other pages on the same subject.
Some article directories even allow you to add more than one link to your resource box, so in that case I've added a link to another hubpage of mine that is also related to television, 7 Ways TiVo Will Change Your Life. That page is about television too, of course, but it isn't exactly on target for the topic of my article.
Just make sure that when you create your article resource box that the text is punched up enough that readers will be compelled to click on it. Backlinks are great, but traffic is even better!
Where do I submit my articles?
The first place you should submit your articles is Ezinearticles. They're the biggest and most popular article directory online and Google practically lives on their pages so your article should get indexed quickly. I would also recommend that you submit a completely unique article to Ezinearticles, then once they accept it (it can take several days), go ahead and do a rewrite on that article, changing about 30-35% of its content and then just submit that new article to the rest of the directories.
Here's a list of the top article directory sites that you should consider sending your submissions to. All of them have great Alexa rankings and PR.
Article Directories
- Ezine Articles
Alexa Ranking: 496, PR: 6. You should submit here first, but if your article isn't accepted, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next. - Go Articles
Alexa ranking 3406, PR 4. Very easy site to get your articles into. - Article Dashboard
Alexa Ranking: 5128, PR 6 - Search Warp
Alexa Ranking 5952, PR 5 - ISnare
Alexa Ranking: 8419, PR 6
That list should keep you busy for awhile and hopefully you'll start reaping the rewards soon with additional traffic and attention to your hubpages and more adsense earnings :)

Hi Embitca
Thank you for sharing the copy of 77 Ways to Get Traffic. I will surely download this one. Thanks!
Hedgeek, I'll definitely look into Guidedawgs.
MoneyDigger, you're welcome :)
Thanks for the great advice. I have been looking for ideas for marketing my HubPages and other sites I write for and this looks like a great way to do it. I will also read the "77 Ways to Get Traffic" that you provided. Thanks again for the great hub and great advice.
Great advice thank you. I do use ezine articles, and get traffic to my site, I hadn't thought of it to promote my hub.
Karina
excellent article
Well, I must say it had never occurred to me to write articles to promote my articles (let's face it, that's what HubPages are, essentially). What an eye-opener! Thanks!
Yes, it does seem a little counterintuitive, doesn't it? I think of my Hubs as the full course meal and the articles as appetizers :)
Thanks for the links - these seem better quality sites than the ones I was using Thumbs up from me!
how do you manage to come up with the content to write so many different articles without repeating yourself? Or is ok to repeat yourself? And, do you submit the same article to several sites? Thanks for sharing...I'm still learning article marketing tips and so fat have use ezine and have seen traffic from that, so I know it works.
Thanks, I will use the information for my hubpages and my blog.
Belief713, I try not to repeat myself by approaching different questions about a topic, but it is okay to repeat yourself a little bit. I will often use a paragraph or two from my hub in my article. Just be careful not to use too much.
And yes, you can just submit the same article to several sites.
embitca is it ok to submit to ezines, get accepted there and reuse that article in different directories?
Ive been surprised to get some traffic from ezines
Yes, Lissie, you can definitely do that. I usually submit to Ezinearticles.com first, once they accept, then I'll submit the same article to other directories. Sometimes I might make some changes to the first and last paragraph, but most of the time I am too lazy to bother.
I just created a new hub about a brand new article directory that is debuting soon. It's in beta now and will be promoted by Anik Singal of Affiliate Classroom. It's his baby and once he starts promoting it all his guru friends will probably jump on board too. It's a Viral article directory where you get free credits you can use to advertise your sites, hubs, or products.

I've used http://www.guidedawgs.com, they have a good pr, but they don't get too much traffic. I wrote a hub about them. They do however have an Adsense impression share program http://hubpages.com/hub/Promote_Your_Hubs_With_Gui
