Some useful ways of studying for exams or tests

There are so many ways to study for tests or exams out there in the world that people get so confused and are not sure which method to use. I have tried a few methods and I will give you some ideas.

1) Write out important terms or phrases on sticky notes and paste them wherever you will see them. This helps you to remember key things and if at all possible, use colorful sticky notes!

2) Write out the notes on a piece on paper that is turned in a landscape view. The simple reason for this is to make the paper appear larger and thus you have more space to write notes. Don’t write out full sentences that are long and not easily understandable. Instead, read the content and rewrite it in your own words. Chances are that you will remember that instead of the original content. Also, draw a little frame around the phrase in different colors to make it easier to find the information that you are looking for.

3)Read the work out loud and record it on a voice recorder. You can store this on your mp3 player and play it back to yourself when you study. This is useful for students who find it easier to remember voices rather than written notes.

4) Draw pictures related to the work on paper in order to refresh your mind and allow you to compress written work in a visual form. The right side of your brain is visually orientated and stores information so this is useful to both train your brain and remember things.

5) Use a mind map to compress information. This involves drawing a picture of the work needed to be studied and place it in the middle of the page. From there, draw lines out and for each line, ONE KEYWORD and lines from that keyword to others. This will limit your mind to one word and it will remember associations to that word. Use many colors to make it bright and easy to remember.

This is just five ways to study and there are many more out there to be found or even be created. Whatever is easiest to you should be used to study. Even if it is not what your friends use to study, remember that you are unique and study differently to other people.

Study hard and good luck in every aspect of your life.

Thanks for the tips. As an "older" student, these will come in handy. :)
