Many uses for vinegar in the household

Vinegar is a product that you can use for hundreds of different things. Whether in the aid of healing, cleaning, gardening, or beauty it is a very hand product to keep in your cupboard.

Use Vinegar for your Health

  • Coughs & colds: Mix two tablespoons of vinegar or apple cider vinegar with one-tablespoon of honey. Sip when required to prevent irritating cough.
  • Shiny Hair: Add teaspoon vinegar to rinse water
  • Dentures: Soak in vinegar overnight, brush and rinse
  • Sore throat: mix teaspoon vinegar in cup of water and gargle
  • Jellyfish or bee stings: Pour vinegar over sting
  • Itching and mosquito bites: dab with vinegar
  • Sunburn: Dab vinegar on affected areas
  • Chest infections: Add 3 tablespoons vinegar to vaporizer
  • Remove onion smells from hands: rub with vinegar

Uses in kitchen and Laundry

  • Remove Fridge & Microwave smells: Wash with mixture of vinegar & water
  • Electric Kettle & teapot: Use tablespoon vinegar in water and boil (Take care not to over fill) then wash out
  • Remove bugs in vegetables: Soak in solution of water vinegar and salt
  • Remove oven grease: soak cloth in vinegar and wipe out

Uses in garden

  • Kill weeds: Spray full strength vinegar on driveways, footpaths
  • Fresh flowers: Add tablespoon vinegar and one of sugar to water in vase
  • Remove algae from fish aquariums: Rub with cloth soaked in vinegar

I was "making a face" when I came to shiny hair...:-) couldn't imagine smelling like vinegar...haha but thanks I appreciate the knowledge on the many uses of it.

I love this post! My mother used vinegar for everything and we'd call her "Vinegar Fern".

Thanks for that Natalie. I have tried most of those uses. I didnt think the denture one worked but on second attempt it did the job no stains at all.
