Uses of Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese therapeutic technique. It is done by inserting wire thin needles into certain point of the body.
Acupuncture works by balancing the body's positive and negative forces (yang and yin), which become unbalanced because of diseases and pain. The various organ of the body are said to be either yang or yin and the spirit of life flows between yang and yin through a number of channels, called meridian (connect the body's organs), found under the skin.
By inserting needles at designated points along this channels the balance of yang and yin can be restored. After the needle is inserted, it is then twirled by hand or stimulated electronically. Needles are made of steel or copper and are of various length.
One theory is that acupuncture relieves pain in the body by stimulating the production of endorphins, pain killing chemicals released by the brain.
