I have noticed a huge spike in traffic at my hub on Finding High CPC Keywords Using Google Adwords, so I thought that I would provide those that have visited that Hub a little head start and list my 7 categories of high CPC keywords.  This list can be used as a starting point for coming up with articles ideas and additional keywords in that topic area.  Now, as you might suspect, the competition in these categories is intense since the people trying to make money online will naturally gravitate to these topics.  But, you may be able to find an angle that will make your article unique.  Or, if you are good at internet marketing and SEO, you might be able to work your way up the search engine ladder.  Remember, if you are getting a lot of dollars per click, it doesn’t take many clicks to make a decent income.  You may be content to be a “bit player”.

1. Legal Keywords

If you are ever stuck at home watching TV during the day, stop skipping through the commercials and pay attention for a few minutes.  It doesn’t take long to figure out that there is big money in lawsuits, and lawyers are willing to advertise heavily on TV and the internet to get clients.  One good suit can be worth hundreds of millions in legal fees so it is worth the $10 or more CPC to take a shot at getting that client.  It is like buying a lottery ticket.  Simply pay attention to the clients that are being recruited, and you can get some decent paying keywords.

2. Investing Keywords

Ever wonder why you see so many ads for forex?  Commissions, that’s why!  Online brokers for forex, stocks, and options make big money on commissions.  Getting a client is getting a recurring income stream for the brokers.  Many of the keywords related to investing will pay big.  Furthermore, there are usually lots of people searching for these terms since the prospect of making money trading online is very enticing.  It sounds easy with no work involved so people want to do it and get rich.

3. Insurance Keywords

A similar principle exists in insurance.  Most customers become a recurring income stream since they are sources of ongoing fees and commissions.  Get that client, and the company or salesman is likely to keep them for years since most people are averse to change.  Most types of insurance pay well—health, life, auto, etc.  Come up with articles related to insurance, and you will get good ads.  But remember, there is a ton of competition with others trying to make money online just like you.

4. Banking and Finance Keywords

Notice the pattern.  Get a client, take his money.  It’s OK for the company to pay up for an ad.  Not only am I talking about banking keywords, like checking and savings, but finance keywords like mortgage and debt can be grouped into this category.  This category is huge and pays well.  Given the economic turmoil, people are looking for help with debt and refinancing.  Companies will smell opportunity to rake in big fees in this area and are willing to advertise.  Search volumes are also big but so is competition.

5. Health and Cancer Keywords

People searching the internet not only care about money but also care about their health.  They are often willing to spend big money looking for solutions to common health problems or to find information on cancer and its cures.  Simply go to the Google Adwords Keyword Tool and fill in various health related terms.  Again, watch commercials to see what is being advertised on TV, and you will know what is being advertised on the internet.

6. Education Keywords

People are losing jobs daily, and when the prospects for employment look bleak, people turn toward education.  What are some of the degrees that people might want to get in order to have better job prospects?  These are sources of high CPC keywords.  There are lots of for-profit education outfits willing to take your money and give you an education.  It is worth a few ad dollars to be able to charge thousands.

7. Internet Keywords

Keywords related to domains and hosting pay pretty well.  Again, the ongoing client relationship with the annual or monthly fees is an important aspect.  Think of all the keywords that you can related to the internet, and you will see some good ideas.  Then it is only coming up with killer article that will bring in the traffic.

I hope you can see the themes in these categories that I mentioned in my other article.  Namely, that if there is a fairly high priced product or a product with ongoing fees (lots of money involved), the keywords will often pay well.  Or if there is vital information that can be had that leads to an expensive product (like cancer cures), the keyword pays also.    I have over 100 keywords that pay > $10 and have more than 50,000 monthly searches from which to work just from these categories alone.  Just think about the things that cost a lot of money and that advertisers want to sell, and you can make your own list.  Remember, just one click each day can be worth $100 monthly with just one article.

Yep - you nailed it - most host ctr and cpc keywords are anchored to suffering or greed.

You're not saying do this and do that. You're saying go here and go there.

Thank you. You've pointed me in the right direction to go digging.

This is excellent information. And if you're building a site for adsense revenue a good strategy that works is to find very high paying keywords run them thru google's keyword tool and then use some of the keywords that come up that have less competition to base content on. What generally happens is since you're in a similar topic ads for those higher paying keyword will run on your site anyway so you can still get those good paying clicks.
