All my teachers in Social Marketing say "watch what Google does". So Googles' latest baby is Google Friend Connect.
Howie Schwartz of Stompernet fame was the first person that taught me to study Google and know what Google is doing. I noticed that Howie Schwartz is using Google Friend connect.
Simon Ford, my most recent teacher, and a very savvy marketer says that using Google Friend Connect will be the connector to all the social media sites in the future. Whewww I guess I better get with the program.
I am noticing that a lot of the early adopters have Google Friend conncect in place. I think it is going to be a slow but permanent change in the way we socilaize on the internet!

I guess I have never been this far in front of the curve that if Google Friend Connect is truly going to be everything that the early adpoters say it will do.
I would love to know how you use Google Friend Connect and how is it serving you now. I can see how it is going to be huge and it will connect to every social group but I don't see people using it yet.

I'm in a similar situation, Lela - being in the group of early adopters on the cutting edge of new technology. I don't have a website, but when my it's ready, I will install the widget because of my experience as a member.
I first joined Events Listed's GFC. I poked around and friended people I knew. As I returned, I met new people, who had similar interests, so I sent a friend requests. I noticed other sites they belonged to, so I surfed to those sites. I joined those - and thought, I might not have found such great places, had I not found them through GFC.
I have seen more people joining the sites I'm in. That's been a great thing - seeing friends from the first sites join other sites. It's opening our world in how we interact and where we interact.

Lela, great job with the Hubpage. I liked Google Friend Connect so much that I deleted some of my Wordpress blogs and created a couple Blogger blogs so that I could use GFC.

Actually I paid Anthony Hosking to redo my wordpress and add Google Friend connect and get rid of the spam so I am all set. That is why I got so discouraged with blogging before.

Early adopters are happy to find things for sure if in the end the new applications actually benefit what they are doing online.Interesting that you got two signs from industry leaders about GFC Lela and that you took action.
I have yet to put up a site or a blog but am certainly having fun especially with the http://roamingheads.com GFC finding great sites where I can find friends from other ones.
