Using Modern Area Rugs To Complete That Décor

If you look at a room in your house, you notice that there are a lot of different stuffs. Ordinarily, they do not even look like they are related at all. Did you know that a modern area rug in your room or space can give you that unifying look?

Area rugs are used to highlight a furniture piece or a given space. Let us say you have an antique chaise lounge that you want to give emphasis in your living area or foyer, make use of a round or rectangular-shaped rug to define the area. Let us work on an example. Let us say that you have antique furniture in a given room. It would be a great idea to add a little contrast by selecting a modern yet classy area rug design or pattern. By doing this, you break the dullness of the antique furniture in the given area or space. Or you can also play with the rug's shape. The color, shape and pattern or design gives an instant standout!

You can do a reverse application with your modern pieces. For example you have a living room with dark, leather furniture with stainless steel edging, to give the area a rough texture, since stainless steel and leather are smooth surfaces, add an area rug in a shade close to the color of the furniture piece you wanted to show off.

You can also use the area rug as a beautiful focal point for your empty walls! Contemporary rugs are even perfect and economical alternatives to big work of art such as paintings or photos or sculptures. You can use colorful or uniquely-designed rugs that are usually synthetic by nature. Find designs that are colorfully striking or intricately design. You can add them as they are or you can give some more definition by framing it. A spotlight will not hurt and will definitely make that wall come to life!

Always remember that when you plan to use an area rug, consider where you will be placing them. You can rugs all over the house but it is important to know where exactly it will be positioned since they are made of synthetic and natural materials. The traffic indoors varies from one area to another. High traffic areas such as foyer and hallways need rugs that are highly durable. Kitchen, bath room and laundry room need those are water resistant (those made of sea grass) and of low maintenance. The living room, bedroom and dining can make use of lighter materials (and lighter colors like a sumptuous modern white area rug) as they may respond to less foot passage.

The good thing about area rug is that it can easily be installed and can be changed as often as the season changes or as fast as your mood adjust. What's more, when you move to another home, you can always take it with you. A modern area rug is a must-have in every home!
