Using Google Friend Connect?
58What can Google Friend Connect GFC for short do for your websites and blogs?
We are seeing Google toss out all sorts of great new products for us to enjoy these days. Some of my personal favorites are Google Voice, a better search process, Google calendar and documents, and several more.
Topping my favorites list is YouTube, which many people don't even realize is the number 2 search engine after Google.com itself and Google Friend Connect ß or GFC for short. To combine the two, here is a great video on YouTube.com about GFC. You can find it by searching the keywords "Google Friend Connect" or also watching here:
The ability to take any blog or website and make it a socially interactive website is highly exciting. It’s like taking an empty, calm pond, filling it with beautiful fish of all sizes, and turning the once still waters into colorful, motion-filled, stirred-up life ripples. It’s creating something great from something once stagnant. Google Friend Connect can make any site come to life.
This easy-to-use Google tool can be used by pretty much anyone who can use a computer. You can place the GFC widget on your website or blog to take your page to the next level: visitors can both follow your page information and interact with others on your page. Doug, another member of the Social Traffic team, shares more of the value of GFC in his Hubpage on Social Traffic and Google Friend Connect.
Being a part of the Social Traffic team myself, I am not only getting the hang of GFC but also how best to use it on a variety of different websites. This experience has changed my life. I’m excited about learning great ways to educate others on why and how to use GFC for their own use on their own online pages. Each of us is learning advanced strategies within YouTube, and on other social media sites, including GFC itself, to make a difference and get results. As shown here in this screenshot from just yesterday, we also grabbed on to the #2 spot as well
for the same keywords, Google Friend Connect. Proof, for a second
time, that a small team targeting their efforts and using tools such as
GFC and YouTube can make a difference and get results -- even over the
big guys.
Please watch for my head out there online within
Google Friend Connect. Let me know your thoughts: what you are finding
GFC can do for YOU, and the results you and your team are getting too.
Connect and interact with me on GFC, and I will surely do the same with
you. Google Friend Connect is making a great difference in our
websites, and I am eager to see all it will bring to our online world
wide web.

YOU using GFC? Or Questions?Or Comments?
Shane, this is very nice.
I am getting the hangs of it as well and can't wait to see all the possibilities that come with the GFC.
Glad to be a part of this.
@twofishees been blogging long? Great blog I was excited to be the first to comment using your new GFC commenting area. Smart move placing that section on tooo. So what are some of your favorite other sites to vit that have Google friend connect on them?
~Expect Miracles
@twofishees You are quite welcome ... on my way over now to interact with YOU on your guyes site with GFC then ... Yay!
~Expect Miracles
@ Shane Belceto thanks for the compliment! Yes, we just implimented GFC on my husband's site: www.tawscenarios.com/blog
I agree @Bruce completely and I am finding even different kinds of websites are suitable for GFC as well. Even some you wouldn't think to be a good website for social interactivity, my travel booking site for example truly has been improved by adding in GFC.
@Tom really was my pleasure glad I was able to grab that shot ... was so excited almost didn't think to take it and would of have to go back ... lol
@Katy YOU and I both and just watch ... you will love what is on the way. Shine On!
Smiles @Debbie I tend to "see" things in a diff or colorful way. Plans for your next HUB yourself?
@twofishees (Great name by the way perfect for the pond -grin) have you tossed GFC on any of your own websites? I feel the same as YOU as I use it more and more.
lol @Johnathan nice to be able to swim arround from pond to pond ... trust me still all over Youtube ... smiles Perfect on those miracles keep at it and love being beside YOU on this awesome team. The results are spreading all over the place.
Wonderful @Arthur you are more then welcome jump on in and anything I can do to help please just ask. Have you played with GFC even a little?
@Sciencewithme me too but wasn't paying attention at first so glad you are. Anything I can do to help you jump on board just ask and feel free to share your sites with me so we can connect on GFC too. Agree Google makes a difference and wise to keep an eye on what they do.
Not sure if I wish to do that @Authentic Sports may blow my mind ... smiles. Just this year alone with the new aditions it has already improved so much ... like you said just a baby though and watch out wil surely change things for the better as time moves on.
Good deal glad to hear that @acting_career are we connected there? Would love to GFC some with you on your sites.
@Michele my pleasure glad to help. Where are some of your fav's that have GFC on them?
Thanks for the kind words @Aby ... YOU working on any HUBs these days?

Michele
GFC is fairly easy to use and install, I had no problems.

The best part of all of this is that Google Friend Connect is a rather new application. Imagine where we'll be with this a year from now.
Great colorful article Shane. I am still pretty new so I have not really used or experimented with GFC and its capabilities. But I would like to be one of the fishes in your pond.
ALRIGHT Shane! It's nice to see you out of the You Tube space.
I'm glad to be one of the fish in this pond. Our team has worked wonders beating Google on their Google Friend Connect video. I'm excited to see the results of this effort to get us to the top of the Search for the same term.
I'm expecting miracles...and with our team I have good reason.
I'm getting the hang of this too. Can't wait to start exploring the possibilities that GFC opens!
Shane-
Great analogy you share with us on taking a stagnant website & how it comes to life when GFC is added. Love your visual on "It’s like taking an empty, calm pond, filling it with beautiful fish of all sizes, and turning the once still waters into colorful, motion-filled, stirred-up life ripples."
Thanks for sharing with us your insightful view of GFC.
~Debbie
I am ready for a bigger challenge. Simon what are you going to have for the STI team next?
Shane, thanks for putting the screen shot up of us beating Google at their own game. It was a fun challenge and we won!
Once you get used to Google Friend Connect I believe that you will find new opportunities and ways to use it. It really seems very flexible.
@Joao thank YOU and I surely will ... need to set up my account over there anyhow so see ya in a bit.
@Rebecca yes I agree quite an amazing little team of people like YOU ... glad to swim with you in the pond of life ... HUGS
@Jennifer we will have to do something about that ... share your blogs with me and lets see how we can cheet the system a bit ... smiles. There is always a way some just a bit trickier then others.

I'm not able to add it to the blogs I'm on now - 3rd party sites. BUT I did join Events Listed GFC, and I'm having a blast following friends to discover new sites.
Jennifer
What a great way to illustrate GFC. Thanks so much for putting up the shot of #1 and #2. I never knew we made it like that. The team of Social Traffic really pulls together well.
I never knew that youtube was the second search engine after Google. You have such a flair for making things so simple and fun Shane. I am sure you will have lots of fish in your ponds of Google Friend cconnect.
Hi Shane, great article. There is an evidence that Social Traffic has knowledge to make good use of Google Friend Connect features. I just finished a Squidoo lens about Installing Google Friend Connect. Hope you like it. Visit and comment so that I can make it better.
All the best,Joao
Splash on in Peter I will be watching for YOU!
~Expect Miracles
Great analogy I'll be popping into your GFC pond real soon, so I can munch up some of that Social Traffic pond weed and start swimming with the Big Fish!!
Regards......... Peter Holmes
It's your life, it's your decision, Get Involved !..Social Traffic
Thank YOU for your kind words ... glad I was able to "paint" the picture I was sharing with words. Are you using GFC on your own sites or blogs yet Jennifer?
~Expect Miracles
I recently found out that YouTube is the #2 for search - awesome video on GFC. Thanks for including that and the screen shot. I like visuals, plus I like your description of the empty website pond swirling to a life-filled site after installing Google Friend Connect. I think it's made my favorites list too.
Best,
Jennifer
