Using HubPages as a Blogging Platform

Why blog?

Many people have not embraced blogging as a way to get the word out about themselves, their business or any other topic of interest.

Some people blog as a hobby and really don't care about making money from it. Others use blogs to sell affiliate products or promote their brick and mortar business. I personally use blogging platforms for all three.

I have a personal blog at http://whoispaulrushing.com I have not even attempted to monetize this one yet.

I have an affiliate site set up on a blog platform at http://identitytheftmatters.info. I have monetized this with AdSense and affiliate offers.

I am also working on a blog network to use to generate leads online to sell cars to. You can read about it at http://buildblognetworks.com. Not only does it talk about setting up a blog network it is also a blog in itself.

I have these sites set up on a WordPress blog platform. I am working on a definitive guide to using WordPress to make money online, but for now it has taken a back seat to setting up the Automotive Blog Network.

I have only scratched the surface on the uses of blogs. Many sites are in blog formats and they can be customized for specific purposes.

Make HubPages Your Blogging Platform

HubPages can be used as your personal blogging platform. You can create Hubs about yourself, affiliate products, your brick and mortar business, current events, do it yourself projects or anything else your heart desires.

The learning curve is not as sharp as in using self hosted blog platforms. You will not need to learn how to edit html, create mysql databases, use an FTP client or spend any money to get started. The only down fall to using HubPages as a blogging platform is that you do not receive all of the monetization from your content.

You can make money with your content at HubPages through Adsense and Affiliate Products. I personally only use the Adsense Modules for now. I have never been a fan of Ebay or Amazon. To each his own.

To pay for the hosting cost and the development of HubPages you will be on a 60/40 split with HubPages and if you refer others you will receive 10% of their monetization efforts.

You can get started with blogging right here at HubPages before making the leap to your own self hosted blog. The nice thing about HubPages is that it has built in traffic for you when you get started. You then can then learn how to promote your pages and give yourself a head start when you do make the leap to running your own blog.

HubPages is also a good way to help you generate some traffic to your other sites and blogs. You will notice that I linked out to my other sites above. This is not to take away from HubPages but, to help make you more aware of the different uses of blogs, but I will take traffic to my sites no matter the source as long as it is ethical.

Get started blogging today, join me at HubPage and make this community a place to gather knowledge from each other and make some extra cash. It may not be as hip as Myspace or as cool as YouTube but you have more control of your work here and it is a good stepping stone to becoming a professional blogger or just to get the world out about you..
