Writing here at Hubpages can sometimes be a time consuming endeavor . I have found it to be a more then sufficient substitute for many activities I used to partake In. Like talking to people and shopping for food and other activities of that nature . And then of course partaking in the forums where I never fail to find someone who grates on my nerves ! In that regard Hubpages is kind of like what I call real life . But among the substitutes that Hubpages has replaced is the time I donate to watching TV . So now since becomng part of this community of fine people I mark time this way , before Hubpages ( BH ) and after Hubpages ( AH ) . But since my arrival here I have more or less given up control over the remote for the television . Albeit reluctantly in case something of grave importance comes on like ESPN sportscenter . I used to channel surf for hours on end trying to find anything of redeeming value to view . But that had proved to be an exercise in futility , especially since the advent of the reality show . Although I must confess " Survivor " is a guilty pleasure of mine .

I have never watched an episode of " American Idol " and I doubt I ever will . I have never watched any of those dancin shows either . I tried " Heroes " and " Lost " but " Lost " lost me with all the weirdness and twist and turns that made absolutely no sense to me so I gave up on it . I still do take an occasional look just because I have a crush on Yunjin Kim . But nowadays I have three primary shows that I watch

1 The NFL pregame show

2 NFL football

3 The NFL postgame show

And now lo and behold there is actually something on TV to watch ! I have always been a bit of a science fiction buff so shows of that nature never fail to catch my attention . And a couple of weeks ago ABC was advertising this show called "V" and I was just barely alert enough to realize that the show was somewhat science fiction based . Plus the lead alien played by Morena Baccarin is pretty cute so that was motivation enough for your humble correspondent to give this sucker a shot !

Now mind you " V " is hardly an original idea . The original series for this program came out in the early 80s around 1983 to 1984 . I do not remember much about those years of my life but from what I can recall I was havin a pretty good time ! Anyway before I start getting nostalgic " V " was actually from the premise of a book called " It cant happen here " written by Sinclair Lewis . It was based on the premise of a fascist President coming into power . And then rewritten into modern language and a science fiction aspect by Kenneth Johnson in 1983 . The plot line seems compelling enough and the Irony of " Hope and Change " has not been lost on the TV critics as that has been something we have been hearing alot about in the last year or so ! But I do find myself after the first couple of episodes deciding that this is actually a show worth watching ! So I have scheduled it Into my DVR settings so I can skip through those pesky commercials about pharmacuetical products with side effects like glowing in the dark and seeing bugs crawling on the walls ! ( Should that persist for more then two hours see your Doctor ! ) And I enthusiastically recommend this show for anybody who has a yen for Sci- Fi . Just think of " V " as " Independence Day " but with alot hotter looking aliens ! Now who could pass up something like that man ! ? So anyway that is my capsule review of the show and I would love to hear your thoughts on It. I have to go into mortal combat for the remote now because the NFL pregame show is getting ready to come on !
