2008 MTV Video Music Awards

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) was a total bomb.

However, host Russell Brand was very funny and if he backed off his Political Humor he would have been the greatest host in the history of the show. Most media outlets are calling him the worst ever, but he is a bright guy and gifted comedian. His George Bush bashing and his endorsement of Barack Obama were fine but just out of place in an audience of idiots. His mocking of The Jonas Brothers drew the most criticism but Brand was right on the money. Wasn't Britney Spears a public virgin while she was banging away at age 14?

Britney wins 3 Awards

It was painfully obvious that Britney Spears' record company paid some big bucks for the three awards she stole and the press is making it out to be her triumphent return. Britney has done nothing this year except put out an album with samples of her voice and videos with a lot of body doubles. I smell a rat over at MTV.

The big winner was really music download company Rhapsody who was able to wrap their commercials around some really lousy live performances. I guess it worked because I got the 14 day free trial of Rhapsody and the site is amazing.

I wish I could say as much for rest of the VMAs. The most exciting parts were a few flashes of Pink's nipple tape, LL Cool J's 20 second performance coming back from a commercial break, and wondering why Lil Wayne was holding his Penis throughout his entire song. Maybe he was afraid it was going to fall off with his pants. He should consider writing a rap about getting a belt and dude could perform with an entire extra hand.
