If you are going to wanting to get vacant home insurance then there are a few things you can do that will lower the cost of your insurance. Below is a list a few things that can give you cheaper vacant home insurance.

Secure your Home- A secured home means that you are less likely to have a break in or have your house burned down. This translates directly into discounts that insurance providers will give you. If you install a security system with smoke detectors and other devices, you can be given up to 20% discount off your insurance. The one catch is that the security devices have to be approved by the insurance provider, which means you will probably have to get a professional company to install them for you. This could end up costing you a bit of money; however, you would end up saving the money in the long run.

Deduct your Land Value- When you are insuring your house make sure you deduct the value of your land from the total value of the house. Because the land isn’t going anywhere, you don’t need to worry about insuring the land, only the home itself. If you forget to subtract the land value, you could end up spending a lot more for you vacant home insurance than is needed.

Look into Loyalty Bonuses- Some insurance companies will give discounts to people who have been a loyal customer for 3 years or more. If you have been with the insurance company, look and see if they will give you discount for being a loyal customer. Get a comprehensive quote is the best way to find the overall best price to value ratio for your insurance.

Increase your Deductible- By increases your deductible you are basically increasing the amount you will have to pay in case something happens to your house. Say you are currently paying a $200 deductible at the moment, well, if you increase that deductible to $400, then you will pay less for insurance. The higher the deductible the less you pay. These is a two edged sword because if in case you do need insurance coverage, a very high deductible can be quite a hassle to deal with if you are low on money.

Look for around- Don’t ever settle for the first quote that you get. Be a good buyer and get comprehensive quotes from at least 3 different insurance providers. By seeing the different quotes on insurance, you can find a good quality insurance package that fits into the price to value ratio. Start by looking online for vacant property insurance. You should ensure that the company you deal with does have a reputable name. There are some places online especially that can either scam you or tell you they cover something when they actually don’t.
