The area is renowned for its excellent skiing opportunities and the Augustine monks that host the hospice are more than gracious. Be aware, if you decide to travel after the summer months you will need to either ski or snowshoe to the hospice as the roads are closed beginning in September due to the snow.

There are plenty of activities awaiting guests at this beautiful and lush paradise but one thing that you will not find waiting for you are pesky interruptions. The entire island is a nature reserve, so you can be sure of privacy, peace and beauty. It's not as exotic as the locations you have mentioned but the Panhandle of Florida between Panama City and Pensacola is one of the best kept secrets in the US. The beaches are hard to beat, and its relatively unknown still so not as crowded as other tourist traps like Miami.
