Southern African Vacations

Below are a few attractions and national wildlife parks worth checking out when visiting Southern Africa. I will be giving you handy tips and gadvice on planning your vacation to a tee to ensure it is memorable and glitch-free (to avoid being conned as well as keeping your hide free from teeth marks!). Check out some of the best places to visit:

Central Kalahari Game Reserve (Botswana)

Botswana vacations are not complete without touring this monster park. In the heart of the Kalahari desert of Botswana lies the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, a vast national park covering an area of 52 800 square kilometres. The park, established in 1961, is the second biggest game reserve in the world. It is home to a wide range of wildlife such as the leopard, lion, wild dog, cheetah giraffe, brown hyena, warthog, blue wildebeest, eland, red hartebeest, kudu and gemsbok.

Lake Nakuru National Park (Kenya)

While on your Kenya vacations, make sure you visit Lake Nakuru National Park, which was formed around Lake Nakuru, near Nakuru Town. The park is renowned its thousands, sometimes millions of flamingos that populate its banks The shifting mass of pink often makes it difficult to recognise the shallow lake’s water surface. Water and food conditions dictate the number of flamingos that arrive to nest at the lake. The best place to view the phenomenon is Baboon’s Cliff, where dazzling photographs can be taken. Also at the park is a fenced of sanctuary where black rhino and Rothschild giraffe are protected.

Inhambane (Mozambique)

Inhambane is an expansive stretch of beautiful beaches along the warm Indian Ocean make this the perfect location for sun, sand and surf. If you are looking to be more active on your Mozambique vacations, there are water activities such as snorkelling, sailing sea safaris, fishing and scuba diving. Flamingo Bay Water Lodge is a dazzling paradise and one of a kind in Africa.

South Africa

For spectacular South Africa Vacations, there is no better time to book than now in 2009. The country is large and diverse with 11 official languages and a variety of stunning landscapes. It produces world famous wines in the Cape Winelands region and is the world biggest producer of gold. Most importantly at the moment, South Africa is set to host the planet's most anticipated event, the massive sporting spectacle that is the FIFA World Cup tournament in 2010.

Walvis Bay (Namibia)

Namibia vacations are usually best enjoyed at the tourism activity centre of Namibia, Walvis Bay, with activities being mostly water related, such as kite- and wind surfing, sea kayaking, photographic boat cruises, shark angling boat angling and shore angling. Every year Walvis Bay hosts one of the international legs of speed kite and wind surfing. Activities on land vary, including desert sightseeing tours, Sandwich harbour sightseeing tours, 4X4 dune driving tours into the huge dunes of the Kuiseb river, dune hang gliding, dune boarding and dune skiing, guided educational, historic and anthropologic quad biking tours into the Kuiseb Delta, visits to the Topnaar people and living desert tours.

Serengeti National Park (Tanzania)

The seasonal migrations of animals at the Serengeti National Park are extremely popular with nature lovers enjoying their Tanzania vacations. Spectacular game viewing from the Ngorongoro Reserve (an extinct volcanic caldera) is a winner with safari adventurers. Large herds of zebra, wildebeest and black rhino inhabit the reserve, as well as prides of lions.

  • Wildlife Photography Tips for your Botswana Vacations

The last thing you might think about before setting off on your safari Botswana vacations is the quality of the photographs you bring home. Do not overlook this all important aspect of your trip as it will be these pictures that capture all those memorable moments. I read an interesting article on wildlife photography by a professional safari photographer. Here are some great tips…Know the locations of wonderToo many of amateur photographers don't typically have enough knowledge on the perfect locations for safari photographs. USually the water holes are a great start!Bring the proper equipmentYou may not have the talent for photography yet with the right equipments and devices, you are sure to bring out the best from even the worst photos you have taken.Your best buddy for safari photos is the digital camera as it provides you countless advantages that you may never have from other camera units.Be conscious of the compositionMost safari photos are spoiled because they do not have the right subjects in them or the subjects were not thoroughly and properly positioned in the image. You have more control on the composition using positioning principles. Make the most out of the latter though. The main focus of the composition is how you frame your subjects. When you choose the composition of the safari photos, you have to have quick decisions, as wild animals dont normally stay for long in single locations. Be extra careful of your movements as well to avoid distracting their attention. And never forget…be patientWe have no control over the animals that pass our sights. They move at their own phase and at their own time. They simply behave in manners that they naturally do so you cant obviously expect them to move as you want. Be patient in waiting for subjects to come by. And once they do, use all your advantage to capture them in photos. Remember, the most beautiful safari photos are those that depict unusually beautiful movements. You may not control luck, and that's for a fact. Luck or opportunity is one thing that determines the beauty if action is to be captured in photos. If you are patient, nature may help you see the marvel in each wildlife scene- a chase of preys and predators, lion clubs at play and solitary trees that reserves excellent elegance. Great deals on Botswana vacations! - 4 weeks ago
