Valentine's 2008: 4 Words, Part One

By Iðunn

naked was I born
and naked I arise

each new morning
mirror to mirror
we stare at each other
almost strangers
trying to decipher which self
to put on for the day

I consult the closet for clues
hidden amid the minis and the mid-calves
jumbled in among the jeans and jumpers
obscured by the office wear
and the official concert tees
officially disconcerting we
with abundance of choice

I look for me in the make-up mirror
first normal view, then close up
peruse the perfume platform
and the shoe selection
sneakerz to stilettos
contemplate all considerations

in the end it comes down to this
in the end it comes down to only one thing

I greet you naked at the door
because that is who I am...
I sit at your feet
rest my unadorned face
on your warm thighs
because this is who I am...

the one who loves you
the one who belongs to you

when all the rest is removed
the outer faces all uncovered
the ever-changing clothing set aside
underneath it all I am the one
who loves you when I am naked.

Ah, true love, that which is unadorned.

Thank you, will await the rest. Have a happy Valentine's, Iðunn.

thank you for reading, kenny.  yes, love proper, once again.

you did tell me magic would come back and you were right.

I am very happy and wish you a lovely Valentine's Day, too.  :)

thank you :)

words one and two are up. I still need to write word three for tomorrow and word four for Valentine's Day exact.

I admit to being either very foolish or very charmed, but also very happy.

Foolish and charmed is okay; sad and foolish is not. :)

Will go to word two now.

I'm late for Valentine's Day, but I love the poem just the same. And the art is such a perfect match.

Oh, thank you~

Well pretty much all I write is love poems so Valentines just happened to be up my alley for a change. :D The rest of the time, I'm mostly out of my element on holidays.

Thank you also on the art. That is Rabi Khan's digital art and he selected this image for my little unpoem. If you get a chance to look over his fine art at Art.com you might really enjoy it. That was how I found him, originally.
