Plan Ahead

During Valentine’s Days of yesteryear, I would generally wait until the last minute before scrambling about trying to find a decent gift. This Valentine’s Day will be different however. I’ve decided to put together a gift package of some of wife's favorite items (ok I admit it, I’m also gloating a bit). If you're stuck for ideas, maybe some of the following Valentine’s Day gifts ideas will stimulate your creativity.

Lately, my wife and I haven’t been able to spend much time together due to our busy schedules. So, I’m planning a nice romantic dinner at home for just the two of us. Our evening will consist of three events; hopefully four, but the forth event is something that I can't discuss here (if you catch my meaning). The events are:

  • A Main Course Dinner
  • Dessert
  • Gift Giving

The Main Course

Since I’m not much of a cook, and my wife loves seafood and steak, I decided to order the Dinner For Two Entree from Chesapeake Bay. I’ve utilized Chesapeake Bay both as an affiliate and a regularly customer. These guys have been around for over 24 years and provide a number of great precooked handmade meals. Because the food generally arrives frozen, the only thing that you'll have to do is place your entree in a microwave or oven for several minutes. Food preparation instructions are typically included with each meal or side dish.

Dessert

Because I manage a chocolate site, it wasn’t hard for me to conjure up a few tasty dessert ideas. I decided to top off our dinner with a Wine and Snack Chest from Mrs. Beasley’s online store. Mrs. Beasley’s is a chain of very popular bakeries located in various parts of California. The Wine and Snack Chest includes:

  • A bottle of 2004 St. Helena Round Hill Merlot in a keepsake chest (wine)
  • A wine opener
  • Cheese Spread
  • Focaccia Crisps
  • A Ghirardelli Chocolate Square
  • A box of Mrs. Beasley's Chocolate Chip Mini B Cookies

You should know that alcohol laws vary from state to state; therefore it may against the law for some companies to ship wine to your particular state. In the case of Mrs. Beasley’s, if you live in restricted state, sparkling cider and cookies are used as a substitute for wine.

Gift Giving

Like many women, my wife absolutely adores jewelry. However, I have extremely poor taste when it comes to picking out bracelets or any such items. Subsequently, I decided to do the next best thing. The San Francisco Music Box Company (www.sfmusicbox.com/offers) offers a decent selection of affordable musical jewelry boxes. My plan is to purchase a jewelry box and present it with a gift card; my wife can use the card to purchase a trinket of her choosing. For those of you who are interested, you can hear a sample of the musical tunes that each jewelry box plays by visiting the San Francisco Music Box Company web site.

The Traditional Route - Chocolate Gifts

Whatever you decide to buy your wife on Valentine’s Day, you can’t go wrong when chocolate is involved. My site, chocolate gift ideas is essentially a web based catalog of chocolate treats. I initially created the site as a seasonal project, but ultimately decided to make it permanent endeavor. I try to add new products on a daily basis. Check it out for yourself by clicking on the link above, or visiting www.chocolategiftideas.org.

Traditional Chocolates from Amazon

There’s no denying that Amazon.com is a trusted resource for online shoppers. They offer a great assortment of holiday gifts. To end our modest list, I've included four wonderful chocolate packages from Amazon. Happy Valentine's Day and I hope that you find the perfect gift.
