Valentine's Day Gifts for Parents

With your lover and all your friends to get Valentine's Day presents, cards, and candy for, it's easy to forget presents for the two people you love most in the world: your parents. Here are some ideas for easy and affordable Valentine's Day gifts for Mom and Dad:

Homemade Dinner

If you like to cook and you're not going out to dinner for Valentine's Day, offer to make your parents and family a gourmet Valentine's Dinner. Make your parents' favorite foods, and for dessert bake heart-shaped sugar cookies. Serve dinner, pour drinks for your parents and clear the table for them; make sure they don' have to do any work at all during the meal. Your parents will love the dinner you created for them, especially if you do the dishes afterwards.

Hand-Made Card and Letter

Yes, you probably have enough money to buy a couple Valentine's Day cards for your parents, but they would much prefer you make your cards by hand. You don't have to be artistically inclined or spend more than a few minutes on each card: just make them colorful and put a nice personalized letter in each one.

Scrapbook/ Framed Picture

If you love photography and scrapbooking, commemorate a recent family event with a small scrapbook or personalized framed photo. Something as simple as a fun day at the beach with your family can be scrapbooked, and by giving your commemorative creations to your parents on Valentine's Day, they'll always be able to remember the fun they had.

Childcare

If you have little brothers or sisters, volunteer to babysit on Valentine's Day so your parents can go out to a fancy dinner for two. If you have a little extra money, give your parents a gift card to their favorite restaurant along with your offer to babysit your siblings. Your parents will love going out for a night together without the little kids, and you can easily occupy your siblings with a Disney movie or two.

Gift Cards

Gift Cards to your parents' favorite stores, coffee shops, theatres, and websites make great Valentine's Day gifts. You can find gift cards online or at your local drugstore, and just a few bucks can go a long way at most places. When buying gift cards for your parents, think about the places they love to go most, their hobbies, and their favorite places to eat, and you'll have a perfect Valentine's Day gift.

I hope these suggestions have helped you find an easy, affordable and thoughtful Valentine's Day gift for your parents. Whatever you end up getting for your parents this Valentine's Day, just remember to be kind and tell your parents you love them on this international day of caring.
