Vampires A Go-G0

What's Up with Vampires These Days?
Is it just me or is everything coming up “Vampire” these days? With the advent of the vampire thriller “TWILIGHT” to the new TV series coming out this fall called “The Vampire Diaries” it seems like the popularity of these deeply dark gothic characters has increased ten-fold. There is something completely bewitching about these sultry vampires, and they are mesmerizing to the point that women are almost risking death to be near one. I have found the concept somewhat fascinating.
Vampire Love Interest?
The notion that a vampire could fall in love with a human has been around for awhile, but recently has taken on new allure in the media. The deep mystery of a vampire and his inner struggle to control what are his innate urges in order to preserve the life-force of someone he now loves is engaging. A vampire lives in the night, sucking the blood from its victims in order to preserve his own being. Falling in love with a potential victim probably wasn’t exactly in the game-plan but what then? Can a vampire control the most basic tenets of his monstrous being and thus in doing become more human in the process? It’s an intoxicating theory.
Women have been attracted to “bad boys” from the beginning of time. From the evil villains portrayed in movies to the classic bad boys of Rock ‘n Roll bands, there is something captivating about the proverbial “bad boy”. This is especially true if somehow through the uber- tough exterior (the tattoos and the make-up or whatever makes up the “tough-guy” persona) an air of vulnerability comes through. Rock bands have been doing this well for a few decades with well-known “power ballads” that melt the hearts of young girls everywhere. It’s the ultimate dichotomy and honestly what could be better than a tough guy dressed in leather and chains singing words that would melt your heart?
In this case, maybe the only thing better is a rabid vampire, pale as paste with dark and moody eyes, clearly torn between love and his bloodthirsty urge to kill. I guess it’s a paradox women seem to want…to know that love ultimately really does conquer all, even that which is considered most evil.
