Vegan Weight Loss
63Vegan weight loss occurs naturally with a vegetable based diet. Vegan diets are free from much of the saturated fat and cholesterol that the "Standard American Diet" has. This certainly isn't the only way to lose weight, but it is one of the healthiest (and the animals will thank you for it!).
The (usually overlooked) key to weight loss is burning more calories than you take in. Since a vegan diet doesn't make eating fast food and junk food very easy , this is accomplished. You end up eating enough calories to keep you energized, but not enough to gain weight. There are pro athletes and body builders who are vegan, but their diet is very different from what you or I would eat. A balanced vegan diet and regular exercise will make you lean and fit.

What is Vegan?
A vegan diet is free from all animal products and byproducts. This includes dairy, eggs, honey, gelatin, and many other things that one would never think came from an animal. Vegans also avoid animal products for clothing and furniture; wool, silk, and leather.
The diet mostly consists of fruit and vegetables, but also includes nuts, beans, soy, and grains.
Thoroughly reading food labels is the key to adhering to the strict vegan diet. Vegan weight loss also happens because of the heightened awareness of what is going in to your body. When you are paying attention to every single ingredient that you eat you stop putting so much crap in there.
Vegan weight loss certainly isn't difficult. It happens naturally and is just a part of your lifestyle. For many people who are vegan weight loss isn't their main focus, animal rights and overall health are the main reasons. Weight loss is just an added benefit!
How Much Weight Can You Lose?
From my personal experience I've lost 65 pounds in the last three years. I was a pretty big dude before becoming vegan, and losing weight has made me look and feel much healthier. I certainly haven't starved either, I cook and eat very well. My weight has leveled and maintained at 180 pounds for the past six months.
Obviously, not everyone will experience the same results. Vegan weight loss seems to happen faster people who ate really bad before becoming vegan (like me!). It's a total paradigm change from what most people are accustomed to, and will give you great results.
