Vegan Yorkshire Pudding Recipe

When my girlfriend (Vegan Chef Jade Pleming) first moved over here from the States one of the first Yorkshire foods that really caught her eye was the Yorkshire pudding.  This amazing simple food was however unfortunately not Vegan, with a little tweaking however she soon got a great vegan recipe for this fantastic Yorkshire Dish!

Thsi Recipe was posted on her Amazing Vegan Recipes Blog!

This recipe for vegan Yorkshire puddings can be used to make 4 large Vegan Yorkshire Puddings or 12 Small Vegan Yorkshire puddings.  THis depends entirely on the tray you use, a small pudding tray will usually accomodate space for 12 whereas a large pudding tray will have space for 4!

But lets get started, to make Vegan Yorkshire Puddings you will need:

8 oz  Self-raising flour

pinch of salt

1t  Lemon juice (fresh if you have it!)

1/2 pt  Vegan Soy Yogurt (unsweetened plain flavor)

1/2 pt Vegan Soy Milk (unsweetened)

All you have to do is just whisk everything together, maybe add a few extra drops (and I do mean DROPS) of soy milk just to make the batter a little runny.  Then pour into the baking tray and pop into the oven!

You’ll want to cook these at about 350 farenheit (180 C) for roughly 15 - 20 minutes.  Keep an eye on them, though.  Make sure they are nice and golden brown on top.  They will start to rise a bit in the oven and then sink when you pull them out.  The first time I made them, I pulled them out too early and the inside was still a bit gooey, so watch out for that.  Everyone’s oven is different, so my advice is to find out what cooking time works best for you and keep that in mind next time you make them.

And there you have it, your very own Vegan Yorkshire puddings!
