Vegetable Container Gardening

Are you interested in vegetable container gardening, but you aren't sure where you could find room for all the containers?  Don't worry!  The very concept of vegetable container gardening is to allow gardeners to grow vegetables when they have limited space.

Vegetable Planting with Hanging Baskets

Use hanging baskets to keep your vegetable containers off the ground and counters.  You can hang these outside or inside.  If you hang them inside, make sure you place the container in front of a window that receives plenty of sunlight.  Tomatoes work really well in hanging baskets.

Window Box Vegetable Container Gardening

Do you already have window boxes?  Instead of planting flowers, plant some vegetables instead.  If you plant something that grow above ground, like lettuce, it serve the dual purpose of feeding your family and providing some color to your yard.

Window Vegetable Planting

If you have a large window that gets a good deal of sunlight, you can build shelves right in the window to hold several vegetable containers.  This is great for a kitchen window.  While you are cooking, you can just reach up to your window to grab some healthy vegetables for you meal.

The Sky's the Limit With Vegetable Container Gardening

If you can't go out, why not go up?  You can place cages and poles right into your containers so that climbing plants, like beans and tomatoes, can grow up instead of out.  This works great for gardeners with very little floor space.

Don't be discouraged if you don't have enough outdoor space for traditional vegetable planting.  You can still grow healthy, organic vegetables for you and your family with vegetable container gardening.  Experiment with different containers.  There really is no rule as to what works as a container, so be creative.  Just make sure it will hold soil and has proper drainage for water.  Good luck with your vegetable container gardening adventure!
