What is The Velocity Diet?

The Velocity Diet madness consists of protein shakes, vitamins, fiber capsules and a variety of other useless fat burning supplements.  No whole food for 28 days!!!  The diet itself may result in fat loss but there are no health benefits at all from surviving on a liquid diet.

This diet was concocted online by a bodybuilding website without any double-blind scientific testing performed by any valid university or institution.  The velocity diet has gone through a few different versions but remains basically a liquid diet, avoiding whole foods.

Why Is This Diet Dangerous?

Your body needs whole food to survive.  Your digestive system needs food and, more importantly, fiber to function properly.  Without fiber you will develop a high risk of developing bowel cancer. Science showsthat without whole foods your digestive system stops working properly.

Fad diets can also play havoc with your metabolism, causing highs and lows in your metabolic rate.  In the short term this can result in a visible loss of bodyfat, but in the long term you can suffer health consequences.  Anyone with heart problems should stay well away from fad diets like the velocity diet.

The Benefits Of Whole Foods

There are still many enzymes in whole food that we have not yet discovered and there are enzymes that we know are there but don’t understand what they do.  You must eat whole food to maintain your health.  Fruits and vegetables also contain all the vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to function.

If you are desperate to change your body composition don’t fall for the fad diets.  A simple low carb, high protein diet with plenty of fiber will get you your goals.  It will take longer than 28 days, but it will happen.

i did the diet about a year ago, its not meant to be a lifestyle, its for 28 days, i lost 12kgs and have kept it off. everyday i eat 3 peices of fruit, a serve of meat and anything else that looks good. ive never been healthier and i pretty much blame it all on the V-diet. Do not do it if your unhealthy, cos it is very fierce, but its definately worth doing if you are in good health and have a few kilo's to lose, i dont think its good for obese people though.

hey sam, that's great that you have taken control of your health and feel better for it. I can't help feeling that the reason you feel so good now is because of the way you are eating AFTER the V-diet. By eating healthy you feel healthy. If you went back to your old eating habits you would feel the same old way again. Anyway, congratulations on improving your health!
