Ventura Highway Lyrics
67Ventura Highway Lyrics
One of the best songs of 1974 by the group America is Ventura Highway. Ventura Highway lyrics have a lot of meaning in them.
The song talks about chewing on a piece of grass while walking down the road. I can't tell you how many times in my life I have seen a man, usually with a cap on his head, walking the road, hitchhiking, chewing on a piece of grass. The song then goes on to talk about how long the person is going to stay and how the town doesn't look so good in the snow. The funny thing about this is I don't know any town that looks good in the snow. Seriously, nothing looks good in snow.
The song talks about the free wind blowing through your hair and how the days surround the daylight there. This song speaks about freedom and how good it feels to be hitchhiking with the wind blowing through your hair. Back in the 1970's hitchhiking was all a rave. It was the way to travel if you were broke and needed to get somewhere.
The song talks about wishing on a falling star and waiting for the early train. There really is nothing better to do when hitchhiking than to wish upon a falling star. It is lonely hitchhiking and being out on the open road.
America was a good rock and roll band in it's day. They were awesome. I remember their other songs like A Horse With No Name and Sister Golden Hair. I used to love these songs and as a matter of fact, still do. This music was awesome music for driving with.
