Hot Spot Cards are also known as Novatel Cards

MiFi mobile hot spot cards from Verizon and Sprint.  MiFi is a mobile hot spot card that connects up to five laptops, cameras, phones and other wireless devices from one port. So you can share a hot spot with your friends in your car, on vacation. Want some privacy but don't want to sit at home? I got one word, MiFi!

MiFi from Verizon

MiFi was limited to Sprint but luckily Verizon has come out with their own MiFi, NO CONTRACT required. Verizon one ups the competition once again with not limiting their customers to ridiculous service plans that are nearly as expensive to cancel or sign up as they are to use. On the Verizon network the MiFi card also doubles as a modem via usb cable.

The network covers all the same areas as their cell service permits but in addition to that coverage, it also covers thousands of cities outside their national network. Where ever there is a signal, there is access.

Verizon offers a number of plans ranging from one day all access passes for $15.00 a day (no service contract required) which is perfect for the occasional day at the park with your kids but still need to get some work done or maybe a vacation with your friends. Like Sprint, you can also connect up to 5 WiFi devices at one time. Might be a good way to keep your kids occupied on a road trip.

For business travelers, folks who work away from the office, you can get 5G a month for 59.99 or 250Mb for $40.00 a month.

MiFi from Sprint

Have you been to the Now Network yet? It is really pretty interesting. Like the commercial, it gives you Now updates on things going on in the world. Just a second ago there were 19 hot air balloons in the sky. Really, it is pretty amazing.

The network coverage through Sprint covers nearly all of the Eastern United States, and most all major cities in Washington, Oregon, and California, including Hawaii, San Juan Islands and Alaska.

Using the device through the Sprint network requires a service plan, contract, credit check and extra service devices to enable the MiFi. ie: if you had a Palm Pre, you would also have sign up with extended type services through Palm Pre, the same with the Blackberry.

Their plans start at $99.00 a month. Requires $36.00 activation fee, $200.00 early termination fee, and cost about $200.00 if you buy it through Sprint.

The clear choice in which MiFi device to pick is through Verizon.

Yes I know. Technology just keeps getting better and better. Thankfully, it gets cheaper faster and faster too!

Next year I will probably have a rundown on prepaid service plans through At&t, T-Mobile, and possibly Cricket.

Wouldn't trade mifi for the world! When getting a new Internet card, we updated to mifi, and I'm loving every minute of it! (It's nice not having to be attached to the computer all the time)
