I wish they were serving my area. I am so tired of my slow dsl connection of only 2.5 MB when they promised me 4 when I signed up! Has the debate between the merits of dsk vs cable ever been sorted out? Who's the winner?

We don't have a cable broadband supplier here. Let us hope that we will leap-frog to fibre optic speeds right through to our PCs. All those great video-on-demand services are of no use until the local connection speed can handle them.

I would LOVE to have fibre optic! If only we had it in Australia. I don't want to move countries though, not just for fibre optic. Even cable would be nicer, I'm sure it's faster than the ADSL I have at the moment.

Me no get it... it goes over the normal phone lines, but via fiber optic cable? That doesn't make sense. Wouldn't new lines have to be run?

I've never been a fan of cable-based internet, but it's interesting that companies like verizon are looking to upgrade to fiber-optic and provide better alternatives. My only choice is satellite (too expensive) or DSL--which is okay speeds, but not as fast as it should be.

LOL I just dumped Verizon altogether a month ago. Fios is good, I've been using it for a couple of years without any problem, but customer service sucks. I am using COX cable now :)

Fiber to the home is great. I remember testing this model a while back in a limited release. But unfortunately the project died and the telco went with DSL instead. Believe it or not this is not new technology it has been around a long time, just nobody wanted to outlay the cash for it. All went for fiber to the curb.
Fios is truly the way broadband was meant to be.

Wow - I wish I had this service right now. Unfortunately I am in AT&T country and they do not offer fiber to the computer.
I can't wait for this to become available in the UK - we are now starting to lag behind with fast internet connection. Our cable internet company has terrible customer service and the ADSL lines are way too slow.

It certainly looks to be a great service, unfortunately I'm in another part of the world and won't able to do so. So I'm stuck with whatever service(if you can call it that) that's available to me.
