Whole Body Vibration.Or WBV ...shake that groove thang,,,,
78Vibration machines
I am so interested in the new phenomenon, the vibrating machines. They *apparently* do wonders ,from losing inches off your body to feeling a bit more spring in your step. Also called vibration therapy, vibrating plates,,,,many ways to call it,,,also whole body vibration or WBV for short.
From the first time I heard about this vibrating machine,I've been curious to know if it really works.I have read and read multitudes of articles about the subject, but have not convinced myself to actually try it for more than a few seconds. I decided to try it out one day, just to see how it felt. Well...I got on the thing for about a minute. Then I got off...why,,,i don't know. The shaking feeling made me feel weird i guess. After being on it just the first few seconds,i could NOT stop myself from laughing out loud. The owner of the spa ,whom i knew for some time, started laughing with me. The shaking machine made some parts of me shake for the first time I'm sure.Ha ha,,,it WAS funny. The shaking jello is the term i used when i saw myself in the mirror.
Many who I've personally talked to ,who have been on it for a few weeks, have lost a lot of inches and some have lost some pounds. Most of them go by the inches instead of the pounds ,why,i have no clue. It's what they want you to target for,the loss of inches. A friend of mine didn't measure herself, but decided to get on the scale instead. She has a very slim body to begin with and had lost ten pounds in two weeks of using the machine. In addition to the vibrating machine, she did keep a close eye on her eating, trying to eat as healthy as possible. I just wonder ...what are the benefits of this thing,,it's almost to good to be true.
On every site i've read about this new thing(not so new in some other places)no bad side effects were recorded....exept one. I read that it's okay to use it every day for ten to fifteen minutes for a few weeks only...But if it's used for more than a few weeks every day,it can cause injury to internal organs. So many people i know are using the machines every day,and have no idea about this.I mentioned this to a couple of them and they didn't seem to believe me.I know most will not be using it for months on end because we all get excited at new things and get bored quick.SO...how many of us will use it to the extreme of having internal organs injured. I read that its okay to use it for up to five weeks non-stop,but no more. I also wonder ,does it have any effects on stuff like an IUD.Imagine getting the thing dislodged and not know about it.Not funny. Then I read ,,,there wasn`t any adverse side effects reported if and when the machines were used with apropriate training and use of good quality machines. But who knows if the machine is good quality or not,,when all you`re thinking it those dang inches you want gone!
When it comes to losing inches, us, on-a-diet,off-a-diet people, have tried a lot of things.I have tried all that exist in this diet hell.Lose weight, gain weight ,lose again, gain more again. What scares me about this vibration machine,is the fact that not enough is known about the side effects, whether they be good or bad. People in a hurry to lose inches and pounds often don't want to hear the negative about something that works so fast and only want to hear the positive. We are all the same,we want fast results.Living in a fast lane,we are all in a hurry going nowhere. With a job, kids, caring for our aging parents....fast is what we desire,It's what we need. SO....why not try it...what have we got to lose....IF it's done in a safe way...no problem . But it should be mentioned to all who do go at it.
The physiotherapist who wrote an article i read, encouraged people using the vibration machines to use it for ten to fifteen minutes every 48 hrs ,and to do cardio the days in between. This is the best way to let your muscles get a perfect time to recover ,as in every weight training. In this way, there isn't any danger in over using it.The benefit they did talk about was with pain in the lower back and the legs.It helps to ease the pain with continued use, three times a week.Other good points were with circulation and the level of the good hormone, serotonin. Also ,sugar levels in some ,have been leveled with regular use .So,,,like all other new *thing* on the market,we must all do some research before starting anything.Even talk to your doctor about it ,its like any exercise program and you should get his opinion about it of you're unsure.
The list of the benefits of using such machines is getting longer every day and the list of the bad side effects are getting shorter. Here are a few benefits I found on the web.
Increase Energy Levels Reduce Cortisol Levels (Stress Hormone)
IIncrease Range Of motion Raise Metabolism
Visibly Improve Body Tone Reduce Back And Joint Pain
Build Muscle Strength Rehabilitate Injuries
Increase Blood Oxygenation Build Bone Mass And Bone Mineral Density
Elevate Serotonin Levels Improve Circulation
Stimulate Digestion Increase Balance
Decrease Blood Pressure Strengthen Core
I plan on continuing my research on the vibration training .To put my mind at ease,I will need to feel good about it before trying it. If the benefits the bad,I'll try it for sure, after all what have I got to lose....a few inches ...
