Breeder paid $4,000 in legal fees after selling German Shepherd to Vice President Biden

A breeder who sold a German Shepherd to Vice President Biden has paid more than $4,000 in legal fees to protect her business after selling a German Shepard dog to President Biden. The breeder was chastised by organizations as to why didn't she offer Vice President Joe Biden a pet from an animal shelter.

The breeder was chastised for uncleanliness when authorities found a few dog hairs on the floor and has been harrassed steadily having to resort in paying $4000 in fees to protect her business. She said that breeders are know to abuse shelter dogs so that it was a good thing than she did not have a shelter dog at her business.

The breeder has advised anyone who is looking to provide a puppy for President Barack Obama's family to be aware that they will come under scrutiny if the dog is not obtained from a shelter. The breeder is now back in business but still laments over having to pay 4,000 in legal fees to remain in business.

I think there are many good breeders out there and they get caught up in the reports of horror story puppy mills. However many breeders are just as the stories say. Horrible, cruel, inhumane. So many many inocent animal suffer at the price of greed.

I am a dog lover (well all animals) times a million. My personal experience (and it is vast, dogs have always been one of the biggest parts of my life) mixed breed shelter dogs are BY far a better dog, with less emotional and WAY less health problems than pure breeds.

It would be a terrible loss to the world, to loose the definition between breeds, but with millions of pet dieing every day I MUST feel the more often people adopt from a shelter the more often a life is saved. The other side is, a true "puppy mill" dog needs saving as bad or worse. Unfortunatley for good breeders that leave a small need for their continued efforts in keeping a breed alive.

The summary of my thinking is PLEASE SPAY AND NUTER YOUR PETS. This one responsible act, would bring this discussion to an end! Win ,win for all. No unwanted pets, true breeds preserved, and no more suffering!

1964human, thank you for your passionate plea to have your pet spayed or neutered. I agree that it would solve the problem of having dogs in animal shelters put to rest because no one would adopt them. I can see that you love animals and appreciate that you chose to respond to the hubpage article about dog breeders.
