Your Video Marketing Plan... Show Reality

First, do a little self analysis. As you have explored the world of You Tube and like sites, what drove you to sit through the entire video? What was it that captured your imagination? If you are like nine out of ten web surfers it was humor that kept your interest. The predominant social marketing strategies employed on these sites are humorous. Now, don’t be confused. Sometimes it isn’t really all that funny to the person or persons in the video itself. As a matter of fact, sometimes it is down right painful to those involved. But looking at it from the comfort of one’s computer it is down right hilarious. For example:

* Emergency room scenes often depict awful, but comical, accidents. Often a video goes viral that shows someone who has fallen and has a foreign object embedded in their posterior.

* Accident scenes sometimes reveal cars teetering over precipices, in the middle of malls, in swimming pools, etc.

* Miscues made by children are often absolutely astounding. Kids tend to fall off stages at school programs, pilot bikes or skateboards into doors, walls, or over hillsides… you get the picture. Painful?.. probably. Hilarious?… definitely.

Now, don’t get carried away. You would not want to stage any of the above just so you can implement your video marketing strategy. But, with due diligence, you just might uncover such a video to use as one of your social marketing strategies.

Your Video Marketing Plan... Show Contrived Humor

Some of the funniest viral videos of late have been totally fabricated humor. As part of their own video marketing strategies some aspiring and creative amateur directors have filmed some of the funniest scenes ever depicted. Here are a few ideas:

* Children… singing, burping, screaming at each other or at their pets, etc. You get the picture…once again (and always) kids are funny.

* Become a singer… lip synch a great or a crazy song (how about Wild Thing?).

* Act it out… recreate one of the great movie scenes of all time, using comical costumes and props. Create an alternate ending with a twist.

* Be absolutely original… depict something no one else has ever thought of. Or something no one else ever even wanted to think of!

Creating humorous videos can be a challenging and rewarding experience. No, nobody said it would be easy, although it could be. But your social marketing plan has a specific goal in mind - to create an incredible video that will go viral. When that happens… when your video marketing strategies become the rage of the internet… you’ll be glad you put forth the effort!
