Review of the Villa del Arco Beach Resort
The following is David's professional opinion from a recent hotel inspection and client feedback.
Ambiance-This is the new sister property to the Villa del Palmar and Villa la Estancia. As you can see from my picture above, they really like families thus the pirate ship in the pool. Heck, I am an adult and I like the pirate ship in the pool. Now the pirate ship is not a pool slide so don't get too excited. This resort is brand new. I think the Villa del Palmar has been such a popular resort they decided let's build another one, thus the birth of Villa del Arco. A great choice for couples or families. It has rooms ranging from a studio suite to 3-bedroom deluxe rooms and all rooms have either kitchenettes or full kitchens. The kitchen makes a good choice for anyone who who does not want to have to eat out all the time.
Beach-One of the few beaches in Cabo that you can actually swim in the ocean.
Charges (extra) - European Plan (EP), food and drink and watersports are extra. Spa treatments would be extra.
Distances-20 minute walk to downtown. The perfect location for people wanting to be close to shopping, nightlife and restaurants.
Entertainment on Property -Varied entertainment and activities during the day and evening.
Fitness Area - When I was there in the fall of 2006 the fitness center was not completed yet.
Food- There are three restaurants on the property. La Perla is their fine dining restaurant, El Faro is their Oyster and sushi bar and the Buccaneer is the bar on the pirate ship offering light snacks and ice cream.
Getting Around- Perfect walking location, no taxis needed!
Internet Access -They have internet access from each villa.
Jackets and Ties-Keep them at home!
Kids-Family friendly but I would not hesitate to have couples stay there too.
Lighting-Well lit at night and pretty at night.
Medical Services-24 hour on call physician.
Negatives- Yikes, timeshare sharks. Since this is brand new they really are on the hunt. Unless you really want to invest in property, whatever discounts or gifts they offer are not worth you wasting 3-4 hours of your valuable vacation time.
Nightlife-Not only do they have the entertainment in the evening, you are walking distance to all the great nightlife in Cabo San Lucas
Opportunities-If you really want to buy a time share, the sharks will love you.
Pool-I mentioned the main pool with the pirate ship and they also have another nice pool with cascading waterfalls. Great views of the ocean from either pool.
Protection-in room safe.
Recreation- The have kayaks, boogie boards, motorized watercraft etc. Los Cabos is also known for its world class deep sea fishing and golf.
Rooms-Families being able to stay in a multi bedroom unit rather than booking two rooms at traditional resorts. All suites and every room have a kitchen or kitchenette. The one, two and three bedroom suites are equipped with dining table and service for up to 8, complete kitchen with refrigerator, electric stovetop, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, and pots and pans.
Shopping-I do not remember any shopping at the resort itself but you are walking distance from all the great shopping in Cabo.
Terrain-Easy to get around, this is a larger resort.
Updates-Brand new.
View-Rooms offer ocean, pool and garden views. A great view of the world famous Arches
Weather-Best weather starts in November through March. The best combo of weather without crowds is November and December before the Christmas rush. The fact that Cabo is very arid and gets little rain on average, any time of year is good.
WOW Factor-The rooms of course is what people like about this resort.
X-Y-Z -A good option for couples and families needing extra space. You just have to be prepared to be approached by a time share representative and as long as you can say NO THANK YOU, they get the hint. he last thing they want is you to feel you are being harassed.
