Villas vs Hotels in Thailand
54
There are many different types of accommodation in Thailand, the two most popular are hotels and villas. But what are the main differences between them? They both have a lot to offer holiday makers and tourists, but are very different. When you choose to rent a villa and opt for a self catering holiday, you do have a lot more freedom, not only for the choice of food, but also privacy. You will almost certainly be in an enclosed area, away from the maddening crowds and may have your own pool. Some villas are situated in their own complex; most have a selection of small but perfectly stocked shops, a restaurant and even a fitness centre, which are never over crowded.
Hotels also offer the same but obviously cater for a lot more people, they may be closer to the fantastic beaches around Thailand, but you never know if it will be busy and finding the perfect spot, may prove difficult. All hotels have a communal pool and sun beds, but you may have to get up early to reserve one. Most hotel restaurants have set hours, which may be fine for some but not everyone gets hungry at the same time and the food is not to everyone’s taste.
When you rent your own villa, you do not have to worry about paying over priced room service charges, if you fancy a cold drink or a cup of tea. You can just pop to the kitchen and reach into the fridge and not phone the hotel reception, place your order and wait for it, then tip someone for bringing it to you. A rented villa has everything to hand, no matter what time of day or night. You do not have to worry about being woken up in the middle of the night by rowdy revellers back from nightclubs, which is very annoying.
Renting your very own villa really does have more benefits than staying in a hotel, more freedom, more choice, more privacy, the list is endless. A villa makes for a better holiday all round.
