Ralph Rueben Lifshitz has come a long way from his humble beginnings in the Bronx, New York.  Born on October 14, 1939 to Jewish immigrant parents, Ralph learned at an early age the values associated with hard work and sticking to ones dreams.  He was a necktie salesman, a self taught designer and also served in the United States Army.

He and his brothers caught a lot of crap for having “shit” in his name, so when he was 16 his older brother Jerry changed their last name.  We now know him as one of the most famous and successful clothing designers in America.  He is Ralph Lauren.
