Viola, don't tell Mama,

That along she was true;

She warn you not to MARRY that fool,

Out of sorrow brings pain,

Mother warn, you not to marry Desmond Payne,

To her, Desmond was total insane,

He always had that weird look,

upon his face,

To Mama he was nothing but disgraced,

He always hang out at the street corner,

With Zack, Lenny and old man Thorn,

Always looking to cheat or horn!

To Mama he was nothing, but a disgraced.

Mama couldn't see, what you saw,

He was ugly, (as a old crumble up dollar bill)

Lots of wrinkle upon his face,

with lines to form a clothes line,

And as musty as an old Billy Goat!

Lots of sorrow, bring on pain,

It was blessed day when they arrested,

Desmond Payne,

Mama had high hopes for you Viola!

Now you are on the list of a battered wife,

Your innocent was taken away twice,

At the sweet age of sixteen,

became a teenage bride,

Desmond Payne knock you up twice,

Now at the age of twenty-four,

That two-bit crook kick you out the door,

Better that you continue at the door of matrimonal death,

Than to go through the misery of infidelity again

Lot of sorrrow bring on pain,

Good riddance, Desmond Payne,

That two-bit junky destroy your life,

Baby girl, Please find your inner strength

Dust off yourself and tried again,

After the storm, always rain, rain,

And things never remain the same,

Viola you're a beautiful woman,

To be so shy, and vulnerable,

Now look at you, where is the laughter?"

Where is the fierest?

You used to make the earth tumble with your walk,

Now you sit the dark,

Nervous as a raccoon,

Howling at the moon,

Don't let Mama knows that she was correct,

out of sorrow, bring on pain,

"All the look on the outside,

Never appeared the same,

Now little sister,

What am l supposed to do?"

I can't leave you here this way,

Let me take you out of this "God forsaken land,

Let me take you back to the Island."

Across the ocean,

Where life as you new,

Ws all so good and true,

Ackee and Salt fish,

Breadfruit and figs,

Dumplin and cassava,

Green banana figs,

Don't let Mama know that she was correct,

Let restored your strength

Your dignity,

Your self respect,

Desmond Payne

Did not took it all away from you,

"All that glitters is not gold,

You seem to have sell you soul,

Please do not my Mama know not,

It will only break her heart,

She also had a lots of reject..ion,

And now to find out that her baby girl

Was battered by her EX husband,

Nothing prospered nothing gain,

When you get involved with your mother's man

Nasty old man Desmond Payne.by W.Lander-Walters

Viola! Don't Tell Mama: in the News

  • A lot to say …Mountain Xpress3 hours ago

For Western North Carolina, 2009 showed no shortage of challenges and feats, setbacks and advancements, wins and losses. Like the rest of the nation, we struggled with a dismal economy, even as some old and new businesses managed to keep their heads above water. We withstood droughts, deluges and the biggest snowstorm in years. We (some of us, anyway) debated municipal-government candidates and ...
