Violent art makes for a peaceful society
60During the Second World War all the songs were about love and victory. This was necessary to counter-balance the harsh reality people were experiencing on a daily basis. Therefore, if it is important to have jovial art forms to counter-balance an unpleasant reality, what sort of art forms should Utopia have?
The Japanese have arguably the most violent art on earth but also one of the lowest crime rates of any country in the world and a lot of personal freedom. And yet countries that are very keen on censorship (e.g. USA) have a habit of having very high crime rates. Singapore may technically have a “low crime rate” but the restrictions on its people are enormous.
John Peel was a man who championed violent forms of music such as Death Metal and Goregrind, and yet can you think of anyone more peaceful and benign? Charles Manson on the other hand wrote impotent, peaceful music.
So what on earth is it that makes people believe that violent art makes people violent? I think Charles Manson proves that it is very much the other way round. And indeed it is for this reason that I believe all members of Coldplay and Razorlight should be arrested immediately on the grounds that they could be planning a mass genocide.
Peace...
...or war

Thanks for the technical analysis Coolbreezing. However I think you are better off with independent thinking rather than "scientific proof". "Scientific studies" are done by people who find whatever they want to find. All science means is knowledge. And all knowledge really is, is perception. All social scientists do is give their reaction to violent art. And because it makes them feel uncomfortable they assume anybody who enjoys it must have something wrong with them. What really annoys me is the fact that they get paid so much to do it.
Violent art is just a good way of exploring the dark side of nature without getting involved with it. People who believe themselves to be completely innocent of the ugly side of life are the most dangerous people of all. The USA is so pro-censorship and yet it can't stop killing mass numbers of people.
If we really need a yin and yang of good and evil then let evil live in art.
Creators and consumers of violent art are frequently deeply unappreciated people just trying to make the world a better place.
You are so right "People who believe themselves to be completely innocent of the ugly side of life are the most dangerous people of all."
people should choose how they want to have fun. If that kind of music suit them they shouldn't be any reason why authorities should be against it. As long as people are not dieing from it, i see nothing wrong with it. The incident in South America where the pastor convince these people to go to Guyana where they were all murdered believed in the Bible.

Certain musical composition that uses certain types of musical notation & progressions can stimulate specific stimuli in the body to calm or relaxes a person without us knowing it. This is why Michel Jackson very often uses 72 beat per minutes in his pop songs. If you think about it an adult hart rate can range from 60 – 100 depending on the person physical health. But more often then that in a normal person you'll get a systolic of 120 and a diastolic of 80. As you can see there is a similarity between the hart rate and the instrumental progression being played. Therefore, by increasing the progression you are in fact stimulating the hart to beat faster which thereby produces careless behavior out of excitement. In the Congo when welcoming certain spirit, the drum players can start slow and increases in rhythm as the spirit manifest itself. So you asked “So what on earth is it that makes people believe that violent art makes people violent?” Well here's my explanation hopefully it help you think further. I must also include that my reasoning is simply independent thinking. What I said hasn't been proven scientifically at least not to my knowledge ….which mean it's even a better reason for you not to accept it.
